As a former funeral director, this project description resonates with me deeply. Really exciting stuff.

Not me all weepy looking back at pictures from when he would pick out and wear his dresses. Back when we lived in Baltimore. It felt much more accepting there. π₯Ήβ€οΈβπ©Ή

And I tried so hard to reinforce that hair, clothes, toys, etc. don't have a gender. It sucks that we can't control everything else outside our house or inner circle. π

I pretended not to listen and I heard him share, "Alligator, a little bit of the girls at camp said I looked like a girl and I told them I am a boy. It didn't make me feel good." So here we are, he finally asked for a hair cut...& for all the wrong reasons. Societal gender norms broke him down. π 3/

Except, he didn't feel comfortable telling me why he wanted to do this all of a sudden (we've had a teacher before make a comment about how boys don't wear ponytails and it took him a while to tell ke). Instead, he told his alligator stuffed animal how he was feeling. 2/

I asked it to explain a section from my trainee handbook about travel funds and trainee related expenses because it read like a riddle.

We had an Irish pub in Baltimore (Canton) where the whole upstairs was a closed off play area with donated toys, books, bean bags, pretend grown up equipment, etc. Parents were able to drink beers and nosh while they played safely. I miss it.

I have also attended many Pride festivals over the years. I'm here for y'all, I love y'all, and I want to see y'all thrive as your true selves. 2/

And this is a reminder of the precarious, yet precious nature of life. Even while the world seems to be falling apart, it's so important to cherish our connections that surround us.

I wish I had known him more, I am grateful to have known him to the extent I did, and I am very sad he won't be around anymore to bring joy and kindness to others. I will strive to be a better neighbor to his wife moving forward. RIP, Lee. 3/ β€οΈ

I find myself regretting that I never had a chance to go over for a glass of wine like he offered some months ago. From our many brief interactions I had gathered he was a former professor here, but I never knew the depth of his community service and joyful nature as a professional clown. 2/

So...we welcome anyone who wants to be involved! Come chat with us, we have an excellent existing BoDs that is still forming and several short/long-term initiatives in the works. We may seem silent, but we are not inactive. 4/

This is a marathon, not a sprint. Reinforcing the echo chamber feedback loop won't move the needle. It would just reflect a broken gas gauge pointing forever at full or "very alarmed" while the reality is that public awareness and concern is more mid-range, maybe lower. 3/

As we measure, evaluate, and iteratively adapt the format/structure in friendlier environments we can become confident with our delivery and expand these initiatives into what might be perceived as harder to reach/conservative environments: VFW, American Legion, frat orders, Greek life, etc. 2/
