Plus, if you need to test Durbin against another Democrat, test him against Stratton who is waiting on his decision. www.politico.com/news/2025/03...

If we want fresh new leadership, Indivisible should put resources into polling where he stands with Dem voters and push questions on the issues of CR, Judiciary committee and his willingness to fight. If he sees that he can’t win his primary he might call it quits.

He was also one of the three Dems to vote for cloture that is up for re-election. Peters and Shaheen are retiring. Durbin hasn’t announced yet if he will run for re-election.

He’s also been weak as Chairman of the Senate Judiciary Committee. He’s kept Blue Slips intact and he’s issued more sternly worded warnings than actual action when going after SCOTUS and Trump. This only emphasizes that we can’t replace one weak leader with another one.

Let’s say Schumer does step aside, the question then is who’s next line? Durbin would be because he’s the Whip. But because he’s 2nd in command, I highly believe that his mode of thinking is the same as Schumer’s. So replacing Schumer with Durbin wouldn’t solve anything. He voted for cloture on CR.
