There may not be as much humanity in the world as one would like to see. But there is some. There's more than one would think.

Imagine how many businesses are gonna blow themselves up, tailspin into PR quagmires, just totally alienate their customers and audiences because the dime store Pat Batemans at the top finally get to spew their unfiltered worldview onto eyeballs accustomed to more refined and rounded horseshit

for those paying attention, it is NOTABLE that they are whining about bluesky, which leans generally progressive, rather than X, which is generally conservative
so you know
getting pissy about their own voters telling them they suck
and moving rightwards again
aka the reason progressives are mad

Well to be honest you're an AI writer at the economist and you'd do exactly the same as the bot. I'm not shocked by that, but I can imagine people are.

I think it’s important Americans get their fashist references correct:
This is the equivalent to the SS, not GeStaPo.
The FBI is going to become the GeStaPo. The „Ge“ stands for „Geheim“ = secret.
The SS was the state terror organization operating in the open.

Astroturfed influence requires money. Far-right influencers in the US might seem like grifters, but in most cases, the money comes from above. Hate is being pushed on us. Even when someone seems supported from below, always ask - who is buying? It is not hard to jack up sales or subscriptions. 2/

Obviously, one can only think this from a very privileged position considering many already find themselves at the sharp end of the mainstreaming of far-right politics
Yet, for the mainstream elite, this is preferable to the radical change needed to revive democracy

I’m not sure anyone can actually get much of anything useful from his phone - I’d almost guarantee musk has a team dedicated to curating Trump’s algorithm on X and I suspect his phone calls are so full of gibberish and lies that they aren’t helpful to anyone 🤷🏻‍♀️

"As democracy is perfected, the office of president represents, more and more closely, the inner soul of the people. On some great and glorious day the plain folks of the land will reach their heart's desire at last and the White House will be adorned by a downright moron."
