It's not a comparison I would have thought of. Can't argue against the similarities.

I know nothing about that book. I do understand that new tag.

Braiding Sweetgrass by Robin Wall Kimmerer.
This is Your Mind on Plants by Michael Pollan.
Tough call deciding which of those two take the top spot.
Runners up:
Stolen Focus
Sitting Pretty
Wintering

Yikes! This makes me glad my friend, whose employer lost federal funding, was able to find something quickly. It doesn't pay near what the old job did. There are opportunities for advancement after 6 months.

We really should. It's not safe for folks to travel here.

FYI: the first Alex Benedict novel was written in 1989! This is the 9th book with that character.
Knowing nothing about the previous books, this one the MC is actually Chase. Not sure if that's true of the others.

I had the same thought.

nope, nope, nope... I'll go to another store. I hate needing to have a frequent shopper/reward card for each store enough as it is.

ouch... I manually make my mortgage payments via check because I'm afraid of exactly this. 😅 I feel that I shouldn't be as my paychecks are regular. Several years scraping by in retail early in life has colored my view for a lifetime.

ooo... a good old-fashioned soda shop can be hard to find. I haven't been to one in years.

Indie shops that I can physically get to and spend my dollars, that show displays that all are welcome. A bookstore & a cat café are at the forefront of my thoughts for this one. Pro-🌈 and spoke in support of No Kings.

As an American, I concur with this conclusion.

Yes. I've gotten better about it. It helps to limit the number of commitments I make. When I end up with more than two days in a row, I feel tired thinking about it coming up or when I go to schedule that next socializing event, locking me into a muti day run. 🥱

It reminds me of The Nightschool: The Weirn Books. The MC, Alex, and her astral shadow type creature.
I'll have to check out the story for this pick then. 🙂

It was fine for me. Very, very, minor. Some itching. Painful only if pressed. Likely a flare from stress due to the norovirus the week before. That's what the Dr thinks was the cause. I'll see if I can convince them to let me get it about a decade sooner than normal.

Yes. It was my lower back about the length of my hand. I had it checked out to confirm what it was. It already started healing on its own. My mother & younger sister had both had outbreaks. Our bodies tend to act strangely in this family.

I'm not old enough for it yet. 😅 I might need to talk to my primary about it though as I had a very minor outbreak. My mom had a bad reaction to it and is forbidden from getting the 2nd shot. I figure trying to get it at a pharmacy is probably not a good idea.
Hope your pain doesn't last long.

oh, I didn't realize. 🤔 stopped by two yesterday. Might have to see if I can visit some more this week. 😂 My TBR might grow a bit.

Why choose? I'm sure I would determine a favorite if I knew them better. It's about personality. 🙂

One of the artists I follow makes trinket shelves of all sorts of shapes. He announced he was participating and where the art would be hidden. Sadly, too far away from me. There were 3 artists close enough to me I could have tried for if I didn't already have plans for the day.

I'll only point out errors if it impacts clarity. Otherwise, let that shit go. Bsky doesn't permit editing after the fact. Who needs who knows how may sets of eyes that see a post to make the same comment. 😒 As long as you understand the meaning, who cares about the errors in social media posts.

I like bsky the way it currently is, thank you. I adore the feeds. I can focus on a topic of my choosing. Or scroll through my mutals. There are a handful of people that I can make a chain of meaningful comments with. And that's cool! Bonus, no annoying ads. (as of now)

Also learned about Game of Shrooms. A worldwide event of hide art and seek. I'm not able to go looking for art this year, I'll keep an eye out for next year.

I'm not sure about step kids. It's been a while since I did benefit determinations. I mostly work with long-term care and SSI on the systems end.
The adults under 21 rule frustrates a lot of parents. Particularly when student status is thrown in the mix.
