Been to Windsor many times; almost got an LLM at University there. And fuck, I bet you've seen some shit. Sigh.

Of course you have feelings - but they aren't more important than the right of POCs to feel safe. Come on. This isn't hard. All you have to do to be trusted is to act like someone worthy of trust instead of demanding it.
comment in response to post
Fairness is earning trust, not expecting it on demand. You need to take a long, hard look in the mirror.

I matter because I fucking exist. Because I'm a human being, worthy of dignity and respect. I hope that man burns in hell when it's his time.

For what it's worth, I grew up 10 minutes outside of Detroit and had to see some ugly stuff before I started unlearning. I'm not perfect but I mean ... it doesn't seem like rocket science to not make this about My Feelings.

Chicagoan here. We're sorry and we don't claim his ass.

Please don't do this, as another white woman. People of color have every right to see us the way some women see men: it's not all men, but it's enough men. It's too many men. Put yourself in their shoes. POCs have every right to distrust white ppl til they get to know us.

I'm autistic. He's the devil.

I think that two things can be at play: yes, people are judgmental, but also, many neurodivergents have rejection sensitivity. Sometimes people aren't actually meaning to attack with torches and pitchforks; our brains just parse it that way. Speaking generally, not about you personally.

These charges smell.
comment in response to post
Skirting uncomfortably close to ex post facto charges here. The "witness" has an ax to grind.

It's true - but it's less common than people think. Many of us just lack _neurotypical_ empathy, simply because we aren't neurotypical. It's just that since our expressions of empathy don't mirror NTs', they think our empathy doesn't exist.

Anyone who refers to other human beings as "illegals" doesn't understand immigration well enough for their opinion to be relevant.

For fuck's sake, Senator, CAPITALIZE ON THIS. It's a God given opportunity to talk to people who don't normally pay attention to politics! I'm so fucking tired of your entire party, and I voted for you. Stop being Chamberlain and turn into Churchill!

We don't need Greta as an example. We don't need to be cured, full stop. Even autistic people who can't speak or do what she's done deserve bodily autonomy and dignity.
comment in response to post
Well, we don't need to be cured because autism isn't a disease. 😃

Regardless of neurotype or religion, they're both scum.

As a Kendrick fan, I legitimately laughed out loud.

Okay, signs I am more offline than I thought: for me "the beef" means Drake vs Kendrick Lamar. 😂

It's a very helpful generalization for those of us who do have meltdowns. If you don't, frankly, the conversation isn't about you and you need to mind your own damn business. Right now you're acting like it's not helpful/relevant to separate meltdowns from shame, and I assure you, it is. Bug off.
comment in response to post
It's called a generalization.

I try not to use gendered slurs against other women. Kyrsten Sinema is a lying, duplicitous c*nt.
comment in response to post
Do you really have to ask this, Mr. Litman?
comment in response to post
People who claim to advocate for autistic people who aren't autistic themselves & have no autistic family are immediately suspect to me because the overwhelming majority of them don't give a shit about us. We are silent and pliant tools for them to paint themselves as virtuous.
comment in response to post
Well, we knew that.
comment in response to post
I see that you're autistic, too, by the way. In this situation, it's irrelevant, because you're basically caping for us to suffer more by defending this crap.
comment in response to post
So autistic people should just accept that doctors are clueless & accept the very real harm done to us by medical neglect & bigotry, because "academia moves slowly?" Because if you're saying that, you are a living, breathing example of why autistic people hate and distrust the medical profession.
comment in response to post
Respectfully, that may be true in your specific field, but in 42 years, I would expect to encounter at least one clinician who understands that autism presents differently in different people. It hasn't happened yet. Real harm happens while we wait for academia to catch up.
comment in response to post
Like for strong agreement only. It's nightmarish.
comment in response to post
Doctors do not know what autism looks like in anyone who isn't white and male, and they don't seem interested in learning.

My only caveat with anti-cheating and anti-AI is that there is a pronounced bias against neurodivergent people from many teachers. I've had bosses accuse me of using AI simply because I write fluidly and use $5 words when 50 cent words will do. I'm autistic and the daughter of 2 journalists.

Deleted past comment as I was apparently parroting untruths! But yes, main point, saying "antisemitism" isn't exclusively the hatred of Jews is like saying homophobia isn't the hatred of LGBTQ+ people.
comment in response to post
Um. The people protesting? The activists like David Hogg? But forget I said anything; a question like that isn't asked in good faith.
comment in response to post
I just hope that non-Americans don't tar us all with the same brush. There is a sizeable minority disgusted with this shit. We are limited in what we can do to oppose it, but we're trying. Some of us may need asylum someday, not scorn and hatred.
comment in response to post
Because he doesn't see the poor, neurodivergents, LGBTQ+ people, or immigrants as Americans.
comment in response to post
This is why I, as a neurodivergent person, don't volunteer for campaigns at all. I'm autistic and everything I say or do seemingly gets perceived as rude. (Not saying you're doing that; just saying it brings back bad memories.)

I don't like all of her music but I am always, always going to be in her corner. I used to work with DV survivors of all backgrounds and the damage to the psyche is real.

Misinterpretation, whether willful or accidental. It's a panic trigger for me, but then I get so angry that it's happening. I have to work extremely hard to not just burst into tears if I'm misunderstood too many times in a row or by people I thought I could trust.

Also, the word "able-bodied" is doing a LOT of heavy lifting.

God, I -wish- it worked that way.

Ah, hell. I'm sorry.
