Very lovely creature, gluttony demons are so fun and have a cozy vibe~ That magic is very powerful, gluttony sure is addictive, hehehe

I guess the degree they are still "made of magic" is ambiguous in Deltarune, but considering what we now know about dust and monster blood after Chapter 4, but it still seems to *somewhat* apply, even if the rules of monster physiology aren't 1 to 1 with Undertale
comment in response to post
I'm still not convinced monsters even have a concept of homo/hetero sexuality and don't just reproduce based on like, vibes and love magic or whatever so there'd functionally be no difference in straight and gay relationships to them.

It is good for softness though... :3

*key plot point

So the idea that "They can be whatever you want as a player" still applied. People just kinda kept that assumption with Kris for some reason, despite the subtext, and hell, the TEXT itself practically screaming at you that you are not Kris, and that people they know in their life call them "they"
comment in response to post
Heck, even Undertale plays around with the concept a little, confirming that the human you play as has their own name and identity and the name you gave them was wel, you know, something else. But Undertale never really made it a kep plot point, and "Frisk" isnt exactly a gendered name...

Subverting the idea that you the player are the same thing as the character you insert yourself into is literally the ENTIRE DRIVING THEME of literally everything to do with Kris in Deltarune so Deltarune fans are really not beating the "can't read" allegations
comment in response to post
I think it's basically a case of assuming Kris follows the exact same tropes of silent self-insert protagonists that causes people to view their gender as also malleable and subject to the player. If they were written as a typical blank-slate protagonist, that'd be one thing but... lol. LMAO.

I'm gonna imagine they tore it out in an overly dramatic fashion and locked it in a cage because reasons

On tho the other hand, the plot of Deltarune itself only gets bigger and more complicated every time new chapters drop...

Fucking hate it. Hate everyone that uses it. Evil fucking slime that has no reason to exist other than to flood the internet with misinformation and smother real human creativity. Literally none.

Ahhh got it

What did they do, exactly? Like what's the example of AI just to be sure.

Does everyone miss tenna yet

It makes sense of course, better to respect Toby as his own creator instead of being overly obsessed with fandoms past their prime, but I do still think there's meaning in acknowledging Undertale/Deltarune and Homestuck's shared roots
comment in response to post
It should be no surprise to find similar vibes in his own creations as those he liked so much to contribute to. There seems to be a lot of reluctance to acknowledge this, probably because of how notorious Homestuck and it's fandom became, and of course not wanting to tie Toby to it forever.
comment in response to post
Undertale and Deltarune really do draw from somewhat similar creative wells as Homestuck did in the past. Toby didn't just make music for it, he went out of his way to do so as a fan before it became official because he *liked Homestuck*

(Helps that both stories going off the rails moment were are driven by a shadowy all-black sword-weilding maniac, but I'm sure that's just a coincidence lol)
comment in response to post
The fandom collectively expecting a Dark World adventure-of-the-week format out of Chapters 3-5 or so, only for shit to hit the fan at the end of Chapter 3 is SO reminiscent of how Homestuck fans were blindsided by the Beta kids game session going off the rails, at least in my own perspective.

What????!?

Toby, come on, I think EVERYONE went "...I miss Tenna" the moment they realized what the final boss of Chapter 4 was going to be lmao.

WHAT is that animation, that is trippy as hell, but awesome

Old ass online magazine that noone cares about anymore except annoying pundits.

Lol the hit piece angle of this is so obvious and it tells you everything you need to know about what these kinds of clickbait "journalists" value on the internet. Elon's sewer of a website is still there. You can keep using it if that's what you prefer!

At this point I just straight up ignore the "news" and get my info from friends who actually live there.

I feel like Susie's arc in chapter 4 has something to say about this attitude, lol.

It's genuinely annoying how much this kind of algospeak has wormed its way into people's brains, from various platforms even, to the point where they seem to find it incomprehensible that there are in fact still places online you don't have to weirdly censor yourself. We're posting on one right now!

I love this Asriel interpretation lol, what a goober.

cheeseborger... all of the cheeseborger

I guess they figured it was a little too spicy even for who said it and calling anything "degenerate" could have too uncomfortable of connotations especially in the current climate, but ehhhhhh I really feel like that was very unnecessary. Not the biggest deal in the world, but still unnecessary.
comment in response to post
I mean, I *do* know why, like, I get that the whole throwing the word "degenerate" at furries being an old and stupid bit of online furry hate, but like, it wasn't really saying that it felt way more self aware and funny than mean spirited, and personally, as a furry I thought it was funny as hell.

It's very nostalgic to me because my family had cassette tapes of beach boys albums, and we'd listen to them in the car every summer when we were driving to the beach for vacation. Perfect vibes for that really!

I've seen this publication around and seen a couple articles in it that were like "hmm yeah this has a good point" and some that were just.... weird... red flag-y even, but I honestly never paid much attention to it at all. It's irrelevant Starting to wonder if it's some weird astroturf project ngl

A pet peeve of mine is Undertale/Deltarune fans referring to their favorite fan games as if they were canon, or on the same level. Some are pretty cool, no shade at the creative effort that goes into making fanart and fan games of course! But I'm just so, so not interested in most of them, im sorry

Two is the idea that we should be able to completely "solve" Deltarune if only we had the right Theory Of Everything, we'll know all the twists, predict the ending... And then what? I don't want to "solve" the story, I want to *experience* it. At a certain point I have to just stop speculating.
