Military service is supposed to be apolitical. Deployment w/o state consent is unconstitutional.
Here's hoping the Courts will stop this administration from using our troops as props in a political spectacle and eroding the guardrails that keep our democracy safe.

Advocacy groups are sounding the alarm. Troops are questioning a mission that feels more political than protective.
The lines between military and civilian law enforcement are being dangerously blurred, echoing the failures of the 1992 LA riots.

“Law and Order” my law-abiding American ass.
Wake up YOUR asses, troops and LEOs. And fight for freedom NOT fascism.

Of course there will be setbacks, and darkness, and frustration. Ask the abolitionists or suffragettes or civil rights leaders about hardships and frustration. And then keep working: not for any person, not to supplement some hero, but for the potential we envision and haven’t yet reached.

We need leaders: not to be perfect, but to inspire faith in something bigger than any or even all of those leaders. To inspire us to be and become more, and in doing so overwhelm the darkness coming from the White House now. To bring the messiness together and build a sustained national progression.

Companies don’t value diversity to achieve a visual effect. They value it because the cacophony of voices creates possibilities that never emerge from a unison chorus. In the face of oppression lining up behind one dystopian vision for power, we can respond by seeking the best in each of us.

Instead of looking for the right person for the moment, we should be focusing on the ideas that drive us in and through the moment. America at its best is moving, with and through a diverse collection of voices and motives. It’s messy. And we have the potential to be better for that messiness.

People are flawed. Every one of us. We make mistakes, and we act out of divergent desires and self-interest. We tire; we lose focus. We lose battles, internal and external. No one person will measure up to every moment. That’s okay, because we’re not perfecting a machine; we’re building something.
