i would have thought that anyone really interested in probity would be pleased, rather than "bitterly disappointed" that there is no evidence of wrongdoing in relation to the payout to Ms Higgins - but perhaps I'm old fashioned.

Not civil war. USA has already acquiesced to dictatorship. Seeing what has occurred this year I don't know why anyone would expect free and fair elections (even US style, which are dodgy anyway) in the foreseeable future, & many seem oblivious or don't care. This was many years in the planning.

The post was about pettiness. It's possible to agree on some things and disagree on others, and be political rivals, without descending into childish petulance, which both sides do.
I like some things about both the Greens and the ALP, but the constant juvenile b!tching puts me off both.

How much more can we lose? These forests shelter endangered species, protect biodiversity, and hold millennia of ecological history. Once they’re gone, they’re gone forever—no second chances.
WA’s Jarrah forests are not expendable. They’re a global treasure, not a corporate sacrifice zone.

When politicians tell you we need to extract the fossil methane gas for our own use, know that virtually all of the NWS gas is for export & Japan on-sells a lot for more profit than Australians get.

I don't know why people feel entitled to insult/abuse/belittle others, also why anyone thinks that doing this helps to win an argument.
Civil conversation & rational argument to share/debate ideas are great- & the reason that many of us are here - but rudeness (or worse) demeans us all.
