As a teenager I smuggled a copy of A Boy's Own Story home from the bookstore down the leg of my pants. Life-changing.

Followed up by reading her obit and she is now on my list of dead dinner party guests. What a dame!

I think about leaving Southern California and then I remember how miserable I was living in Atlanta in the spring. The entire Eastern seaboard and northern Europe is now a no-go zone between April and July, unless I'm medicated up to the gills.

The Tulsi Gabbard Congressional hearing set-piece is also hard to beat as a masterstroke of excrutiating discomfort, though scenes of the embattled couple plotting Macbeth-like at the kitchen table give some scope for the Hegseths to explore more fully their dramatic range.

Law must be subject to virtue, and virtue is embodied in the leader. This is what Nazi legal theory referred to as "working towards the Führer."

You could say our food is going to get pretty vanilla. But the US gets most of its vanilla from Madagascar which just got slapped with a 47% tariff.
