Yeah, I did see a few comments or a thumbnail labelling this scenario as nonsense, when interactions like this actually did happen in the wild, it's just rarely recorded or talked about

Anytime! Always great to appreciate everyone's hard work in the field of paleontology!

Especially since even the OG entries of the franchise already branched out into different formats anyway, so the 2025 series really shouldn't feel too out of place as a part of that expansion, in my personal opinion that is I'll be sure to give the series its due once it releases here in Australia

Awesome! Kudos to said backer for suggesting such a novel idea, we definitely could use some interesting, underrated animals as influence for dragon designs

-in this case. Seems earthy warm colors might still be favorable even for color-vision animals, the reasons why I am actually quite curious to hear the reasoning on
comment in response to post
Quite surprised at the fact that based on modern predators, the T. rex maintains the color combo of reds, browns, blacks and whites Given the notion of color vision in dinosaurs, I actually thought the animal would've been predominantly green to fit the dense foliage, but apparently not-

Ooh, is the nose by any chance based on hammerhead bats? If so, that would actually be a really neat and novel concept, NGL

And I'm so happy you brought up the live show, because I remember seeing THE first version back when it was just debuting back in 2007, and I still feel chills listening to the main theme. Heck, dare I say I prefer the live-show's music over the 1999 TV-show's, IMO

-rage quit upon rewatching the theatrical cut on my DVD copy recently, though I definitely agree how badly the movie did. That said, it's still part of the "Walking With" brand If the movie of all things technically counts, then I say the 2025 show should count as well without question
comment in response to post
Precisely! Even the OG series wasn't consistent with its format and presentation, so I personally find it a bit silly to expect the new series to follow a "status quo" that wasn't there to begin with I confess I have a guilty pleasure with the movie, even surprising myself that I actually DIDN'T-

Everything else discussed in the article is also very well said, though I haven't got as much to say on them as others might have more to say than I can Honestly a real treat to see you work on such an amazing project here. Keep up the good work, Jay, can't wait to see what else ya got in store

-it seems the browns, blacks, reds and whites still seem to work, as it does for many modern predators roaming similar habitats The Trike's eye-spots, I find really splendid, not just for the beautiful bright colors, but also that they do indeed seem to work effectively for the intimidation factor
comment in response to post
The use of specific color choices is really quite intriguing indeed, and I love how there's a lot of good reasoning behind them Interesting how the T. rex uses a few warm colors even with how mainly green the environment is. With color vision, I thought the animal would've been mainly green, yet-

Yet to see the series myself, but it's so rad to see you be part of the consultant team, and major kudos to helping bring this project to life! Definitely keep up the good work, Steve! 👍

-the way to go about it, being completely blunt I'll still need to see the series myself, but I know I'll definitely find a lot of enjoyment from it, warts and all

-the team that worked on this were so proud of what they manage to pull off despite any potential shortcomings, making me want to give the show a chance in order to appreciate their hard work Genuine concerns are warranted, but insulting the work of the people that brought the show to life is not-

What's more unfortunate is that it's not just the matter of accuracy that I've seen the dissing over, but also people calling the show a "soulless in-name-only insult" that's not a near 1:1 match with the OG in terms of overall style and vibe Breaks my heart seeing people say that after seeing how-

And it's not just accuracies that I've seen people dismiss the show over, but also how it's not a near 1:1 recreation of the OG in terms of format, music, narration and general vibe, calling it a "soulless insult" to the OG that's an "in-name-only" That to me felt really disheartening to witness-

-come to the conclusions they find the most reasonable for depicting the animals in question It's a jarring shift of format, but considering the situations mentioned, and the advent of AI generated dinosaur images and videos, it's a necessary move to try and set the record straight
comment in response to post
IIRC, part of the reason was because of the increasing and alarming number of people believing dinosaurs weren't real or taking the depictions of the animals for granted without truly considering the science behind them So the team opted to show audiences how the people studying these animals-

Exactly! It's more likely and practical Allosaurus would've just simply gone for the throat or bite from the sides I'd see Allos actually trying to latch on with their claws with their feet off the ground if they're tackling larger, risker game such as larger sauropods

I'm aware new iterations of classics are a precarious topic, for various good reasons, but I myself am willing to give the new WWD a chance, especially after seeing how the production team behind it put a lot of their hearts and souls into it, something I'd love to appreciate for their hard work
comment in response to post
I have still yet to see it at the time of typing this, but while valid concerns are warranted, I personally feel many are taking it too far with labelling the series as an insult to the OG, mostly for not being like it in many aspects Isn't the point of a new take to be exactly that anyway?
comment in response to post
-what should've been the coolest animal in the show, but now with the current debacle of its identity, bringing that scene up would potentially cause debate headaches, especially for those wanting to learn about the animal Yeah, the allosauroids got done dirty in hindsight of the show
comment in response to post
-reason 2. I just personally find it kind of a pointless tactic if they were pack hunters, it'd actually make more sense to tire out the prey until its down, they'd get more meat right there and then, despite the higher risk And fourth, the elephant in the room: Saurophaganax. Only one scene for-

-bleed out on the sidelines, it would keep biting and biting on the spot until the animal's dead, like the actual tactics of Komodo dragons, which are just as active hunters as any predatory mammal Third, I don't really see the "flesh-grazing" theory to be all that practical for similar reasons to-
comment in response to post
Yeah, looking back, I myself find the mistreatment of the allosauroids appalling First of all, Allosaurus and the carchs had stronger bites than previously stated, and the goddamn hatchet-bite was already debunked long before the show aired Second, the Carch wouldn't wait for the Ourano to-
comment in response to post
Yeah, no, definitely not the case, the allosauroids just merely had bad luck with environmental changes affecting their preferred hunting grounds and prey, and the tyrannosaurs simply got lucky with filling the blank spaces left behind

Prime examples of really good Utahraptor designs right here that can work for Red:
comment in response to post
You and me both! Years and years, I've been waiting and anticipating a film adaptation of this book, but it never came to fruition Given the unique anatomy of Utahraptor, that'll surely make for a memorable character silhouette for Red to make her stand out, along with her signature red mark

Specifically, the "evolution + extinction chronology" motif that does seem to be the case with the OG WWD as well. Not to mention Tim Haines being part of the project at that
comment in response to post
-damn good reason, especially the carnivores, that being to NOT be detected by their prey when stalking. That's what makes them scarier IMO, the fact one WON'T hear a theropod approach behind until it's too late, that's the entire point of a successful ambush hunt
comment in response to post
In what world is a large carnivore being almost silent in stepping forward to its prey "unrealistic"? Yeah, I'll be blunt, this is what Jurassic Park bonked into people's heads, large animals making loud stomps with each step. Like, seriously, the padded toes are needed to muffle their steps for a-
comment in response to post
You and me both, I actually thought to myself that the footfalls were TOO LOUD in the clip when the T. rex was talking or even taking casual steps. The pads on the toes really should've muffled any sound out completely, only except for if the animal was actively stomping hard in a threat display
comment in response to post
This right here is why people oughta give the 2025 series some slack for not exactly matching the OG in terms of format and style. I myself am actually glad it's not like the OG, because doing the same thing all over again would make it stale, as well as the mentioned-above issues shown here
comment in response to post
Yeah, that IS alarming, especially since a lot of it seems to stem from nostalgia-tinting from the OG, AFAIK Like, I'll be honest, I really don't think making it just like the OG would be a good idea in the long run, especially since even the older entries changed the formats and styles anyway

Yee, 'tis a rather peaceful motif to take pics of :3

Yeah, that actually broke my heart, being an Allosaurus person myself. That would've been the perfect species to carry the "Jurassic Lion" moniker, but at least Snax/A. anax can carry the mantle for the time being, at least unless we actually get a legit African allosaurine
comment in response to post
-as well, mostly because I really wanna see if Africa would indeed have produced its own offshoot from the Allosaurus lineage to essentially fill the void of "Allosaurus tendagurensis" All that said, I myself await the day Nano becomes valid again
comment in response to post
Same here, honestly, because Hell Creek, to me, definitely feels like it oughta be essentially a Cretaceous Yellowstone Park This is why I like the Morrison Formation a lot, because we know for certain we have a buck-load of large carnivores present, but I also want to think the same for Tendaguru-
comment in response to post
Honestly, yeah, I actually do wanna see newer studies pop up revealing T. rex living alongside other large carnivores. Maybe there might actually be more species of Tyrannosaurus than we realize, or perhaps even other genera. Heck, maybe even a Dryptosaurus or a relative, who knows at this point?
