A great thing to do with old Amazon boxes is turn them into dungeon tiles

I designed a bookmark for kids! I guess you/your players could use it, too? It summarizes: -The character creation process (referencing the free #Shadowdark quickstart) -The player turn -The kind of cycle of play that is typical to an #old-school #RPGs -Dice check-related terms I hope it's useful!

“We must restore the sense of the fantastic. Once magic is banal or easy, once magic rings can be found at the corner market and wizards are everywhere, sense of wonder goes straight out the window.” Howard Andrew Jones, New Edge Sword & Sorcery, Fall 2022

I just found my favorite new quote: "The rules are scaffolding, not scripture." #osr grognardia.blogspot.com/2025/05/lett...

In the build-up of my original bespoke setting for my upcoming Shadowdark campaign, I am dropping some "Lore-Bits" as a way to get my ideas out of my skull and out there in the world to become living, breathing "thoughtforms". Just hope they don't come back to haunt their progenitor!

Finally got around to posting my Shadowdark House Rules. I hope someone besides just me finds them useful. #shadowdark blog.wyrdingmedia.org/index.php/20...

Doing some more worldbuilding in preparation for my new Shadowdark campaign. I finally have a decent city map with my named districts thanks to the fantastic mapping tool at watabou.github.io #shadowdark #osr blog.wyrdingmedia.org/index.php/20...

Great (older) interview with Kelsey Dionne where she states that her goal for SD RPG were: “what would fantasy dungeon crawling have looked like if it had been able to benefit from the last 50 years of innovation?” #shadowdark thaumavore.substack.com/p/youve-got-...

Finishing up the final touches on my new Shadowdark campaign setting. I am really looking forward to running this in the near future for my gaming group. #shadowdark #osr blog.wyrdingmedia.org/index.php/20...

I whole-heartedly recommend people use the Vivaldi or Firefox Browsers as they take their user's security and privacy seriously. I cannot in good faith make the same recommendation for the Brave Browser, and here is a comprehensive reason why. thelibre.news/no-really-do...

Great writeup of the #ATmosphere conference. It was organized by the community — the protocol that powers Bluesky is taking on a life of its own. techcrunch.com/2025/03/25/a...

D&D is often described as a "medieval" setting, but it is not. The closest historical analog to D&D cities would be Renaissance Florence - strong mercantile class, Medici politics, etc. Outside the cities, it's the American Old West with magic swords instead of guns.

Fear of a Black Dragon is back! In this one, we're looking at the first adventure in the first issue of Dungeon Magazine, The Dark Tower of Cabilar. The Expert Delve is about getting to the game table in 2025—and not letting a missing player mess up your plans! www.gauntlet-rpg.com/fear-of-a-bl...

This looks like a great OSE adventure that I can simply drop into my dark fairytale/folk horror campaign. #osr
