(Most) Anyone that considers themselves a traditional Republican is voting independent or Democrat or sitting out. I know a number of people that consider themselves traditional Republicans that voted straight ticket Dem.
We need a whole lot more.

There is always a “for the children!” argument made with almost every government overreach. While there may be edge cases where mass surveillance has benefits, there is an erosion of rights here, or at least the potential.
Law enforcement should be hard but we want shortcuts to make it easy.

I just can’t even believe that this shit is legal to air. It’s 100% BS and he knows it.

I love the thought of Memorial Day and 4th of July protests that make today's look tiny in comparison.

I already know what mine will (won’t) do.
Hawley and Schmitt.

The flaw in this argument is that it assumes that the US wants to stop the war in Ukraine’s favor.
It used to. It no longer does.
Recent actions have made it clear that the US is now actively working to end the war in Russia’s favor. Today’s PR stunt at the White House made that abundantly clear.

Same. Family is too. Wife, kids, parents. I know individually we don’t mean a lot, but if we can make a collective visible dent, it will have been worth it.

Is Elon involved? If so, then I can’t imagine any answer other than yes.

Yes. We need a marketing and messaging machine.

“Free” is concerning. How are they making money on this? The license agreement indicates that users cannot sell products derived from the software. Would that include any books that are created?

I really hope not. I also hope that he hasn’t torn down everything that can stop whoever comes after him.

Trump may die, but next in line are Vance and Johnson. Neither will veer from the path Trump has cleared.

What’s really going to happen to him? Trump will just pardon everything away.

Someone who, until tonight, I thought had a brain and that is from our community is on Facebook right now screeching that Musk had to take over Treasury because we’ve been paying terrorists and we also funded the Wuhan lab that “created” COVID.
How do we even defend against this?

Honestly, I feel like we’re way past that. The time to do that was in November. Instead, we gave them a majority.

Personally, I’m avoiding the news. The anxiety of 2017 to 2021 isn’t something I can subject myself to again.

I don’t think it did, but I’m done engaging on this topic as it’s clear there’s no interest in an actual appreciation of nuance.

SGI was incredible in its prime. I came very close to accepting a job offer there in the late 90s. The interview was incredible and was my first glimpse into these kinds of companies. A magical time in tech history. This was also the Jurassic Park and Toy Story era, enabled by SGI.

No one is forcing you to.
It’s possible for two things to be true at once. In this case, appreciation for what came before while also enjoying what’s come lately, along with all the foibles of each era.

Context matters here. The chasm of difference between nostalgia for a beloved TV show and nostalgia for returning to the days of racial and gender inequality is massive. Lumping people who like a TV show with monsters that want to bring back unspeakable acts is ridiculous.

I also love Picard season 3 after not really thinking much of the first two seasons. Apparently, this makes me a fascist in the eyes of the original poster.
Also - agree with you wholeheartedly on both DS9 and Lower Decks. Both favorites of their respective eras.

Profit at any cost. Literally the only metric we use to measure public companies. People work to the metrics to which they’re expected to adhere. When the profit metric starts to go in the wrong direction or isn’t going up fast enough, panic sets in.

Do pardons have to be specific or can they be for “any and all crimes you might have committed in the past”?

Do you think that, on a smaller scale, there would be profitable opportunity to place small stores in food deserts? Are these area just too small for a consolidated grocery industry and could some other player that operates differently make it work without going bankrupt?
