They should feel proud. Missing home plate on a home run or awarded base is such a cheap way to cancel out a deserved run.

^^^ agreed. The internet, social media, Reddit, etc can be very useful for things such as “tips to get over COVID”, as long as the people giving info aren’t weirdos. Also most people probably aren’t even seeing a doctor for COVID if the symptoms aren’t severe enough to garner an urgent care visit

I feel like you misread what BoatLife64 said, he just said vitamin d can be helpful to fight the COVID virus when someone gets it. It actually read as a very compassionate post and offering a suggestion for someone to look into. (Also said in addition to booster, so don’t think he’s an anti vaxxer)
comment in response to

If I read the post correctly, the post was not comparing effectiveness of vaccine vs vitamin D, the post said there are things to do “in addition” to the booster.

I just saw the rest of the answer and the original post is not misleading. “I don’t know” was basically the gist of his response - basically saying he will listen to his lawyers on if he has to follow the constitution.
I wish they posted the whole clip, it makes him sound worse

Yeah. I am not a Trump supporter and disagree with so many things that he says and does, but this was clearly the start to his response. He says enough outlandish and wrong things that we don’t need to edit statements that could be seen as disinformation

I’ve had the same argument for people who won’t try peanut butter on a burger bc it’s gross… try it first!!

Wild to pick a side without having tried it! This happens w food combos all the time, people knock two good flavors together bc they don’t think they’d mix. If the accepted pizza sauce was bbq or Alfredo, I bet people would be “disgusted” by the thought of tomato on pizza.

I don’t think it was a foul, and officiating is a very tough job. I really don’t like the call coming from that official though, unless you see a clear hook or hold it is hard to be the one to judge contact there. Those two players official primary in that situation

Y’all ran a campaign saying you had a plan on how to fix all that and that the economy would be soaring from day one. So you either lied then or you’re lying now - but the real answer is you’ve been lying the whole time

There are not restraints on play in intramural sports and coed leagues for how people play. Please tell me what rules there are to restrain effort by men in coed/intramural sports??
Sports come w a risk, I haven’t seen any evidence trans girls/women participation increases that risk
comment in response to

??? Pretty sure that the girls and boys in HS are the same age, and HS sports are called boys and girls. College sports are men and women. So wouldn’t have girls vs men.
it’s a manipulative to mix those words together and if you can’t see that, then I don’t think you can have an honest convo
comment in response to

Next, it is very common in our country for men/women, boys/girls to play coed sports together and no one is scared for girls or women in those environments. From playgrounds, gym class, little league, Intramurals to adult rec leagues - coed is a norm. But you’re cool w those right?
comment in response to

Even if you want to go down the disrespectful path of calling trans people by their gender at birth, can you at least be consistent in your bigotry. Young girls would not be playing with “biological men”, young girls would be playing with “biological young boys”.

So much for “letting the States decide” and the “States rights” crowd. Reproductive freedoms is for the states to decide, education guarantees and funding is for the states, but trans participation in sports … that’s where federal govt needs to step in? unbelievable

Also, if teams are down 3 they might be more incentivized to try to score TD and win the game knowing that if they only tie their opponent will most likely start the OT with the ball in a sudden death format
comment in response to

I’ve been saying @stevenruiz.bsky.social OT idea for a few years now. Just extend the 4th qtr. the only thing it eliminates is last second FGs in tie games. You could still get do or die FGs in OT. Also could increase teams going for two to go up 1 in closing minutes rather than tie the game

Economic impact of having a sports team in your city. Revenue brought in to local businesses and restaurants. That’s part of the value.

@tonyreali.bsky.social is a true class act. Has never wanted to make the show about himself, but when he’s had the opportunity to speak and the moment calls for it he’s always delivered strong, needed messages. Off camera, I’ve seen him be kind and caring to Special Olympics youth and athletes too

If you want a different representation of trans girls participation in high school sports in the US, (what would be a typical experience), here is a great article or video about Ohio’s only trans athlete in girls sports.

Women’s and girls sports in the US has increased a lot in recent years. They are flourishing and growing more than ever. There is greater opportunity to play sports. Trans women and girls are not taking opportunity to play away from women. I care about opportunity to play for everyone

The thing in Australia is not a professional football team and they don’t dominate. Thats what I’m trying to say, that is a very misleading article to what the reality of that club is. They would get destroyed if they ever tried to compete against top level females
comment in response to
post
Sports became the boogeyman to promote anti trans ideology. I don’t think that government should be deciding this. Leave it up to the sports organizations to determine the rules, they care about their membership and competitive standards more than anyone.
Why take it out of the experts hands?
comment in response to

I read the article and see where you got it from. I might be the one that is wrong. I’d be interested to learn how the organization they cited reached their findings.
I just assumed that HS would have been higher bc of more athletes, JV/varsity levels, and typically less barrier to play
comment in response to

And the article you posted is very misleading… making it seem that parents were fearful of their kids getting injured when all the players were adults… also ignoring that coed adult leagues exist and flourish across this country in soccer. Should we ban coed rec soccer leagues bc they are dangerous?
comment in response to
post
The point doesn’t stand… his point was that there were HS teams comprised of all trans girls - that doesn’t exist. Trans athletes have been participating in high school and college sports now for decades, guess what - girls and women’s HS and college sports are still increasing in participation
comment in response to
post
I agree with you on the issue, but I am think the number you are referencing is NCAA which is college sports. I’m guessing it is much higher total in HS sports bc there are a lot more high school athletes, but probably a very similar proportion (fraction of a percent).
comment in response to
post
First, not high school ages. This is an adult pay for play club that takes beginners to advanced and plays in non competitive and competitive rec leagues. They’ve been a club since 1985 and promote the social part of sport more than the competitive. That article is misleading

The policy should support and promote how you want the spaces to be used. There are laws against SA and other sex offenses that will be enforced if anyone commits such acts in the community space.

I’m having trouble understanding how the tush push is that much less entertaining than a traditional qb sneak/dive from under center. That’s why I don’t buy the entertainment argument. Brady was celebrated for his success rate on the play.
comment in response to
post
It doesn’t matter. Jalen Hurts will be able to gain that yard without the push from behind and people won’t have anything to unnecessarily cry over
comment in response to
post
You can say they should remove it for different reasons. To say because it isn’t entertaining isn’t a good one unless you want to ban a normal qb sneak where he falls forward.
And to say Tom Brady ran behind blockers is a stretch. He took the snap and fell forward.
comment in response to
post
Yes really. Watching Tom Brady dive forward for 1 yard or Jalen Hurts being pushed forward 1 yard are equal on the entertainment scale to me
comment in response to

What’s the difference in the entertainment value of the tush push and the traditional qb sneak/dive that has been done for as long as I can remember? That play isn’t illegal bc it’s boring.
I’ll wait.

Yup. I wrote a transgender participation policy in 2012 for the college intramural program I oversaw… reviewed a lot of policies from other schools, governing bodies, sports orgs. Discussed at a lot of conferences. This isn’t new. What’s new is uninvolved people pushing their agendas
