Bird Book of the Dead no. 27 - Muller's Elephant Bird The smallest of the three species of elephant bird and the most taxonomically unique - Muller's Elephant Bird potentially outlived the other two species, but in general there seems to be less information about them around.

I'm Scottie, I'm a science and conservation communicator currently working for a wildlife rehabilitation center. I'd love to be included on this list!

You current biological sex is clearly defined by what gonads you used to have but don't have now, unless you never had any in that case it's what ones you would have had if you were born differently, and unless you had both or ovotestes in which case stop asking questions you don't exist, but also

Now would be a smart time for the NDP to announce a plan to invest in air purification for schools and other public facilities.

Haha fuck this

My fav thing here is Catman posing in the back like he's an actual superhero lol

Bird nesting in the Cretaceous! This is the illustration I did for a new paper by Lauren Wilson and colleagues that is published TODAY in Science The new paper describes an assemblage of fossils that includes both chicks and adults from multiple species of Late Cretaceous birds! #paleoart #birds

*Obviously* I had to do so much more with this tremendous concept, so I Liquified these very flattering portraits in Photopea to match the fossil skulls (of Ambulocetus, Kutchicetus, Pakicetus, Maiacetus, and Basilosaurus, I've decided), and then sculpted them in Blender to boot.

boymoding

the amount of discrimination that OF artists (and all sex workers tbh) get is ridiculous - they can get locked out of financial services, travel, sometimes other forms of employment, payment processors, now elite sports apparently? It’s WILD, and it can follow you even when you retire!

This young Erythrosuchus is having *a day* #SciArt #paleoart

The fossil reincarnation series: Tupandactylus, Jeholopterus, Fenghuangopterus and Diopecephalus

Jumping on the latest trend.

I am once again suggesting that we pay less attention to celebrities and more attention to plovers #birds

Albertans continue to believe the lie that the UCP will improve anything for them. It's been 5 years with their government, and what has actually improved for us? www.cbc.ca/news/canada/...

can we normalize caring for men and loving them and feeding them and making sure they have fresh water and at least 60 minutes of social interaction a day and dust baths and oh I'm thinking of chinchillas

The Fighting Dinosaurs fossil, aka "The risk I took was calculated but man am I bad at math."

Wild that in 15 years hashtags went from being ubiquitous symbols of social media to mostly useless except on Bluesky.

I just saw a post claiming that Padmé died because Palpatine did some Force magic on her and not because of a "misogynistic plot device," and I gotta say, people are giving George Lucas waaaaay too much credit.

I need everyone to appreciate this metal af Andorian vs. Klingon hockey game art from the Star Trek Adventures beta quadrant book.

Alberta represents!

I hate to say it, but the new Walking with Dinosaurs has left me a little disappointed.

Part of recovering from a mental health low means dolling myself up for a night with friends

New #paleoart posted to #Patreon for #FossilFriday: #sauropod Atlasaurus walks through glowing phytoplankton on a pleasant Jurassic evening. The hi-res painting, WIPs and scientific rationale for the scene can be found here: www.patreon.com/posts/129695... #sciart

Undercuts were cool, and I miss mine every day.

Bird Book of the Dead no. 7 - Spectacled Cormorant Steller's Sea Cow is one of the most famous extinctions, but there was another Pleistocene relic lost to whalers and trappers at the same time in Bering Sea. The largest of all cormorants, near flightless, they were hunted to extinction as food.

I feel this thread in my bones.

A little opabinia mermaid for #mermay

I hate how harshly homeschooling is judged on the left. When schools are poorly funded, have broken curriculums, and are widely using pedagogy that is ineffective (or outright pseudoscience), why wouldn't I teach my child myself?
