it’s funny that they’re both on their own personal websites posting their little posts

Sharing some thoughts on grief and grieving in the first episode of my new podcast. Hope you find something useful in it. open.substack.com/pub/buddhist...

“Next, it’s worth remembering that you are not your feelings. Feelings are things you experience, but they are not you. They don’t get to make decisions for you. They don’t get to determine what kind of person you are or what kind of day you’re going to have.” open.substack.com/pub/buddhist...

"We're all just walking each other home."

RFK Jr. says there are no autistic poets, so we interviewed one. Hear from Elizabeth McClellan, @popelizbet.bsky.social, an award-winning poet, attorney, and legal educator based in Memphis, Tennessee.

“…in statistical terms, the American dream, as in born poor, wind up rich, you're more likely to live out the American dream right now in Denmark than in America. And as long as that is true, we've got profound, profound problems as a country.” -Pete Buttigieg

This is how you do it: The Japanese American National Museum will “scrub nothing,” Fujioka said, and instead will highlight the importance of DEI. “Our community is based on diversity, equity is guaranteed to us in the Constitution, and inclusion is what we believe in,” Fujioka said.

I think it was Rage Against the Machine that sang, “They don’t need to burn the books, they just remove them.”

There are actually people out there that think actions like this will result in lower taxes for them. www.npr.org/2025/03/27/n...

They are arresting people on the streets, terminating their visas, and disappearing them for writing things they disagree with. This is where we are. Two months in. Right now. If you think they won’t begin coming after citizens soon, you are mistaken.

If you can’t remember what you said, who you said it to, or where you were when you said it a month into your new job then it’s not a stretch to say that you’re not competent enough to be the DNI. You can’t have it both ways.

One of the only things I’m grateful for in this new admin is their complete masks off approach to everything. I don’t have to go around convincing friends and family that these folks are fascists because they’re gleefully admitting now.

I get one vote. That's the extent of my political power as a private citizen. But Musk gets to personally put his thumb on the scales of Congressional elections while being an employee of the federal government that also invests directly in the businesses he owns. gizmodo.com/elon-musk-se...

It’s springing here in NJ.

Slotkin’s 10 minute moderate reply to his 100 minute fascist run-on sentence did not meet the moment.

“People will die,” said Dr. Catherine Kyobutungi, executive director of the African Population and Health Research Center, “but we will never know, because even the programs to count the dead are cut.” www.nytimes.com/2025/02/27/h...

Whatever else may be, it seems almost certain that your local taxes are going to increase as states spend more to continue providing critical services that will no longer be supplied by the Federal government.

What no proponent of “small government” has ever been able to articulate for me is just how big should government be?

If the price of peace for Ukraine is to surrender its sovereign territory and forfeit future NATO membership then Putin gets everything he wants. www.reuters.com/world/trump-...

It’s the middle of the day and most folks at the grocery store smell like they’ve been hot boxing all morning. Can’t say that I blame them at this particular moment.

What Musk and “DOGE” fails to understand is that, as Baldwin so eloquently put it, if I am starving, you are in danger.

Musk’s people will be working while you’re at that Super Bowl party.

Imagine the full weight and authority of the Executive Branch being used to discriminate against 10 athletes that have broken no laws. Shameful.

I should have known that everything was gonna go down hill when Jenny McCarthy’s first book made it to one of the storefront tables at B&N in 2005. 20 years later and here we are in the dumbest timeline.

“…but DOGE does not have power over established government agencies, and Musk has no role in government. It does not matter that he is an ally of the President. Musk is a private citizen taking control of established government offices. That is not efficiency; that is a coup.”

An algorithm that feeds you one injustice after another but doesn’t cause you to take action is anger-tainment. An algorithm that feeds you the suffering of others but doesn’t cause you to take action is anguish-tainment.

All other considerations aside, it's probably not the best idea to give the world's greediest person access to the payment system of the United States Treasury.

I'm not dismissive of litigation, it's important and should be done and those jumping into the fire to do it very quickly have been doing good and crucial work. But if litigation is your *only* strategy, for *years* to come, then you're not an opposition party. You're not a political party at all.

Signing a bunch of Executive Orders at the end of each day isn’t the same thing as actually governing.

It’s hard listening to Schumer in the Senate at this point. He’s experienced. But his experience is based entirely within a system that Trump is committed to ignoring and dismantling.

When can we expect the ICE raids to occur at Trump or Kushner owned properties? Or are we all meant to believe they operate entirely within the law as it pertains to immigration law?

I don’t know how to live in a country where school shootings don’t move a majority of people to vote but supposedly the price of eggs forced a bunch of people to vote for a fascist.

My, my, my… just look at all the masks coming off.

It’s fun trying to find that line between “I need to remain vigilant of the horrors afoot” and also “oh no my heart is racing and my jaw is making weird creaky sounds and I can taste pennies.”

Tonight’s viewing pleasure: #Ladyhawke (1985).
