New data show that ICE is pulling record numbers of people off the streets who have no criminal convictions of any kind. This is not just a change from the Biden admin. This is a radical tactical shift compared to Trump 1.0. These arrests are up over 1,000% from 2017. www.cato.org/blog/ice-arr...

This is the use of the military for domestic law enforcement; I don’t see any other way to describe it.

Trump just hit a new all-time low of -11 (among adults) in our approval average. He's underwater on pretty much every issue, and in all the swing states. Underwater in Ohio, and nearly negative in Texas and Florida. www.gelliottmorris.com/p/data

always nice to be reminded that the President of the United States consistently uses “Palestinian” still as a slur At least (no I’m not handing it to him) Bush talked about islamists or people in “league” with Al qaeda, it would be like bush going out there and calling people Iraqis as an insult

Amazon buying farmland, "de-watering" it to lay cable, creating energy demand double what state currently needs, getting $8 billion in tax breaks. All for whatever Anthropic's next AI model is going to be. This will never be worth the tradeoff.

Breaking NYT: A senior Justice Department official, Emil Bove III, told subordinates he was willing to ignore court orders in order to fulfill Trump's deportation campaign, according to a whistleblower complaint by a department lawyer who has since been fired. www.nytimes.com/2025/06/24/u...

one way to make sense of the position of the republicans on the supreme court is that they do not believe there is such a thing as a legitimate objection to the actions of a republican president, no matter how deranged, depraved, or anti-constitutional www.stevevladeck.com/p/161-the-co...

I don't understand how this can be legal. I don't understand how this can be ethical.

Donald Trump is the most powerful enemy of America's free speech rights in our country's history.

1. Our reporting displeased the world's richest man. 2. He spent $288 million to elect President Trump and other Republicans. 3. Trump's FTC has now launched a meritless investigation targeting us. 4. We're suing to protect the First Amendment. www.mediamatters.org/justice-civi...

Any corporate executive who signs off on a bribe to Trump should be prepared to explain their crimes in front of Congress and to the public when Democrats retake power

The US denied a visa to a French lawmaker who is critical of Trump policies. Can you imagine how much the GOP would never shut up if the French denied a visa to one of them? www.nytimes.com/2025/06/19/w...

No American outlet would hesitate to describe them as pro-regime paramilitaries or an irregular militia and similar terms if this was happening anywhere else.

I asked ICE where the “413% increase in assaults” justification for its officers using masks came from. They didn’t answer. So I dug into it, and what I found … did not boost their argument. Gift link: wapo.st/4l7a1ch

It's infuriating how 99% of the coverage of this new war doesn't bother to mention that it is happening because we had an agreement to limit and monitor Iran's nuclear program, which even Trump's own aides said was working, and he blew it up because it was negotiated under Obama.

Duckworth to Hegseth: "You are blowing through money like my fellow cadets and I did in our first liberty after basic camp. Luckily I didn't end up with a questionable tattoo ... you're just an unqualified yes man who can't tell the president how to keep Americans safe."

The cruelty of this is, genuinely, staggering. This is a policy that saves virtually no money whatsoever whose success is measured in the number of children it kills.

SCOOP: The "Appeal To Heaven" flag, a popular symbol for Christian nationalists that was waved by January 6 rioters, was raised over the Small Business Administration headquarters last week.

This reporter was targeted. He had a huge following, bigger than CNN. They damn well knew it. www.theguardian.com/us-news/2025...

NEW: It looks like Palantir is helping Trump build a mega-database of Americans' private information so he can target and spy on his enemies, or anyone. @aoc.bsky.social and I are demanding answers directly from Palantir.

America is one of those countries where if you host a global sporting event, inclusive messages have to be censored to so as not to anger the central government. In this case the message is “racism is bad” www.nytimes.com/athletic/643...

Either the Director of National Intelligence lied in her testimony before Congress, or Trump is lying now. It is that simple. Will any Republicans in Congress say a word? Nope. Will media splash huge stories about it and lead with it? Nope. Just another day in Trump’s America.

An Afghan man who worked as a translator for the U.S. military during the war was detained by ICE after showing up for a hearing inside of a federal courthouse in San Diego, his attorney says. He fears that if he returns to Afghanistan, he would be tortured or even killed, @nbcsandiego.com reports.

After stumbling up plane stairs and dropping his papers, confusing Justin Trudeau with Stephen Harper and the UK with the EU, the elderly, confused Trump is going home early to rest, using unhinged threats to declare war against Iran as cover.

A top staffer to Sen. Tina Smith emailed Sen. Mike Lee’s top staffers on Monday about “how much additional pain you’ve caused on an unspeakably horrific weekend” Via Sam Stein on twitter

Trump looking absolutely inconsolable at his fascist-themed 79th birthday party which no one turned up to other than those who had to because he's their boss.

Unreal levels of Trump's America here.

It’s intolerable that Minnesota Democrats not only has to endure the brutal murder of political leaders, but the far-right faction that did it insists that we somehow did it to ourselves. Our society cannot operate inside the ocean of lies that Musk and his neo-Nazi cronies have created

Melissa Hortman, who was assassinated last night, was the Speaker of the Minnesota House in the 2023-2024 session, when Democrats ran the state government. That means she had a leading role in shepherding the many landmark reforms that Dems adopted in that period—an important legacy. Brief 🧵.

As an exercise, try to imagine Ron Johnson being wrestled to the ground in Wisconsin; or Tommy Tuberville in Alabama; or Lindsey Graham in South Carolina. Yeah, neither can I. charliesykes.substack.com/p/no-kings-n...

More Americans voted for Senator Alex Padilla than for 48 of the 53 red state GOP U.S. Senators combined.

There's been a tendency by Very Smart People to dismiss all our yelling that Trump was doing something damaging/dangerous because the sun rose the morning after with no apocalyptic consequences. The thing is: mostly, we were right. The consequences just didn't hit us the very next day.

This is not journalism. This is stenography for power.

If Senate Democrats like @kirstengillibrand.bsky.social @gallego.senate.gov and @schiff.senate.gov are still collaborating with Republicans to give Trump a crypto gift after this - they all deserve to be primaried. At this point there should be no collaboration w/ Sen Republicans. None.
