The Trumpists were never against "elites." They were only ever against the idea that expertise and authority are built on study, practice and impact, instead of bloodline, divine right, or intrinsic merit. They see themselves as fundamentally better than other people and need others to see it too.

Absolutely. And the best way to get better at stuff is to be bad at it for a while. And if it makes you happy doing it, you’ll end up better at things that make you happy someday.

And artists losing studios- not just revenue and income, but the records and evidence of your creative and professional life. Absolutely devastating for those folks.

This part. I grew up in a Salvation Army family. Most people don’t understand that it’s an actual church, with specific beliefs and practices, not a charity organization.

No instructor I know (who isn't a miserable asshole) WANTS an adversarial relationship with their students. We just want you to actually learn the material, & understand why it's important to do so. We want you as robustly capable as we can manage, on the other side of our time with you. That's it.

Had one make eye contact, drop it’s head and hoof drag the road at my truck in the Tetons when babies were crossing behind it. Seriously scary 20 yards away, especially because we couldn’t back up into the cars behind us.

Had a colleague whose office flooded (3 feet deep) when a fire suppression pipe burst because the building was so cold. This happened during class, mid day. Eventually flooded across the hall into my studios.
