“interpolation” is a word only used by the most depraved of trolls what a scumbag

If you ever lessen your objections to LLMs, I’ve found feeding troll replies into them and just letting them argue w/ the robot to be satisfying. I mean, the *healthy* thing to do is walk away. But I’m digging samsara too much to be that mature.

It’s a verb now, “sealioning”: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sealion...

You’re not wrong, but I bet you $5 that “I grow some on my property and use it in my wood heater at home” isn’t what we’re all imagining when we read “Creates JOBS. REPLACES OIL, COAL, AND WOOD.”

I have…mixed feelings on this topic. On the one hand, unless we’re arguing for disbanding our entire military, we can recognise that military technology is something that is needed, and that *somebody* has to make it. On the other hand, some very problematic conflicts of interest baked in there.

i’m in favour of cis breeders being around children, but only because i am *militantly* pro-kink

There's a lot of things folks do that I don't understand, and I don't flame them for it if their explanation doesn't make sense to me. Just...don't get angry and move on with your day? Block/mute me if you like, but let's keep a civil tone, yeah?

It was just an answer, my dude. Thanks for sharing your opinion.

I didn't "need" GPT to write that in the same way that I don't "need" to use an automatic car wash. I like to save myself some energy and time sometimes. If you're thinking of following up with some reply about being lazy, check the thread I wrote to the other person, and miss me w/ it.

When I look back on this time in history, I’m making a firm goal to remember it as a failure of *media*, as much or more than anything else. The sane washing of insane, evil people has been absolutely appalling, and I honestly do not think things would have gone this way without it.

I always respect an artist when, if they’re asked “Hey so what’s this bit about?”, they respond with “bro that’s your job i’m not your dad/mum” (sorry gender inclusive language, “parent” doesn’t land quite the same ☹️)

I don’t know how to fix it. But I *do* know that if you reply to responses like that with “skill issue” it seems to piss them off. As a petty person, that helps me.

I think that he does care in an overall kind of way. But I also think that people are patting themselves on the back WAY too fucking much for reskeeting shit. There’s things you can do to meaningfully resist fascism. They do *not* involve posting on social media.

Same. Again, relaying a 1/2 remembered idea second hand, but I reckon what it was is that Tolkein was asked it like that’s *all* the story was. While it’s obviously *in* there, there’s a whole lot of other things in there too, & if I were him, I’d be pissed about people missing that other stuff too.

Good ol' Earth. Nothing beats that.
comment in response to post
I think I heard @mattcolville.bsky.social say that Tolkein's WW1 experience influenced LotR, but at a certain point he was just getting the question "omg bro is it like WW1 tho????" and that he got so sick of it, he just started going "absolutely not no way never shut up times a million FUCK"

As far as using hemp/bamboo for energy goes, it will take more input to create less output than eco-friendly options we've already got and are effectively using. It literally just doesn't solve any problems, and instead creates them.
comment in response to post
Where do you reckon you can start with that? Do you know where to look to find a therapist that'll suit you?
comment in response to post
When you take this into account, it's clear that bamboo/hemp are *useful*, but not a panacea to all of the economic & environmental challenges we're currently facing as a species. I haven't researched it, but my perception is hemp use in textiles is the big area we can make some improvements on.
comment in response to post
Bamboo is used for a lot of wood products already. Different woods have different properties, and there's a reason that we still use other kinds for other things. Bamboo is good for some applications, not others.
comment in response to post
And when you take that into account, the costs are so high that it makes no sense to be pursuing that route over options like solar/wind and batteries. Even hydrogen fuel cells would be much more effective. They *can* be used to make oil & coal, but not in a way that is actually useful to us.
comment in response to post
The problem isn't that it would "take work". The problem is that, even if you make *the* most optimistic assumptions about how efficient it can be, there is a certain amount of land that we need for other things, and energy, that it will take to turn them into coal/oil/gas substitutes. 🧵

i mean it’d be pretty weird for them to write “please conduct an independent inquiry into aukus but make sure to remember that the brits aren’t the problematic part of it”???

that is all correct. that information is also not the context i was referring to.

Same. Every time a man has asked me out, I've asked him who he serves, and nobody's said their cat yet, so ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Wrote this one w/ GPT: They can replace a lot—but not 1:1, and not w/o trade-offs. You can’t just swap oil or coal out for plant matter & expect the same energy density/industrial capacity. While both are amazing renewable resources, scaling them still takes land, water, labour, and infrastructure.
comment in response to post
Look, don't get me wrong. I think making shit out of bamboo and hemp is fucking dope, and we should be doing much more of it than we are. But this: "Replaces oil, coal and wood." Is so devoid of important context that it's actively misleading.
