We have a Dem AG in NC and our Republican legislators are trying to ban him from opposing Trump in court. Beyond wrong.

You have to pay to read the article…. So anyone want to share the highlights?

As an American, I sadly support this. Those who support the nonsense of the Republican Party need to feel the burn to understand how wrong they are about… everything. Only 2/3 of Americans actually voted at all and just a smidge more voted for this nonsense than against it (like I did). 🥺

I just picked up A Day of Fallen Night by Shannon-first book of hers I have tried and I really like it so far. Super intricate! Have you read many of her books or is this “the one” for you?

You’re imagining things friend. Trump put in what… 13 billionaires into top positions? That’s an oligarchy. Then he wanted… Matt the pedo as AG…. And now he wants all Indians with high education to get an auto HB1? All those $100k jobs are about to be $50k because the swamp has been overrun. Smh

That’s just a silly comment. What happened to “drain the swamp?” Y’all are fine with flip the swamp with Red hatted criminals. Nothing will be drained-again. All more of the same.

Yes, billionaires have access to medical stuff we poor people can only dream of.

Trump pardoned a ton of cronies. Trump’s kids got money from China and Saudi Arabia in the form of “business deals.” Republicans support funding the war in Ukraine because we all prefer Ukraine v Russia humans over USA v Russia. For Putin the dismantling of the USSR was a mistake to be rectified.

It’s like chocolate. We know it has lead and cadmium in excessive amounts but it isn’t on a single package nutritional facts label. They just omit it. Blows my mind.

I am a bona fide atheist, but thanks for showing you’re a bona fide rude person. You exude MAGA principles. Take a look at how you defend a lack of progression in understanding, and how quick you are to attack someone you disagree with. It makes for poor debate and doesn’t reflect well on you.

I am not Christian. Jesus was a living person whose message is well-spread. People listened then they wrote his words down. I respect history. I understand Constantine was the first to weaponize Christianity. I like a lot of things Jesus taught, even though I do not believe in God, Heaven or Hell.

Also, I feel like you are insinuating that I am somehow MAGA related. My willingness to be open to new ideas and meanings should have been a HUGE hint that you’re wrong. MAGA wants to stay in the past-and your comments say you want to as well. I am progressive so I follow linguistic progression.

Listening to books about fascism, racism and the Holocaust would be quite educational. Jesus spoke his stories. There is nothing wrong with auditory messages. MAGA wants to ban anything that “offends” and sadly, history is offensive. I would be happy for people to learn any way that works for them.

Words have meanings, but there are new words and new meanings all the time. I’m trying to help you understand, but I’m getting the vibe you don’t have an open mind-based on your previous comments…. Including this last one. It’s pretty obvious what my point has been this whole time.

I saw this coming so I had my 3rd and final baby in August-before they can ban abortion any more and make pregnancy any scarier than it already is. NOW I have an 8 year IUD because I am not confident birth control will remain readily available! I am SO sad for everyone. I hate the Heritage F-group.

What they said is accurate. Only 2/3s of the country voted. The vote between D and R was pretty close percentage-wise among those who bothered to vote but 1/3 of the US sat out the election. Sadly the 99% non-billionaires in this country are all about to feel it.

Do you ever run to the store, or do you just go to the store by walking or driving? Do you really grab a hot coffee or do you purchase and handle a hot coffee with the respect it is due? Do you ever work like a dog or do you work way harder than most dogs that lay around all day?

Genre, but also a mix of age. Also, I don’t have enough space so some are hidden behind others. My favorites get more space, at chest and eye level. Reference genres (how to/inspiration) go on the sides and bottoms.
Except kid books… those are by level because my 3 kids are on different levels.

Or we learn because we are humans capable of great thought? Shakespeare is credit for inventing the words lonely, critic, undress, radiance, addiction, eyeball, manager, generous, bedazzled and more. He also invented the phrases wild goose chase and in a pickle. Don’t be so close minded.

We literally weren’t talking about that. Idk why you brought that up. That comment was totally out of the blue and honestly, quite stupid.

Nobody says they read a podcast. That’s not how the word is being used. I didn’t make up the new meaning, and I didn’t start the trend-someone much more influential than myself must have gotten the ball rolling there. I just like to pay attention and float on the tide. Keeps me feeling young. 🙃

That doesn’t even make sense to say as a part of this conversation. You’re trying too hard to be confrontational.

No, MAGA says it’s 1950 and they can’t open their minds to new thinking. “Take America back.”
You are being as closed minded as my 85 year old, Trump-obsessed grandfather.
I am telling you about a new idea. You’re rejecting it because of how things have been in the past. That is MAGA thinking.

Also, Dr, you are a consumer if you purchase a book to consume the content. That’s exactly how economics and industry view you. You don’t eat a car or blender but there is a publication called CONSUMER REPORTS all about prices of various non-edible items.
Consumer also means customer.
Geez, Dr.

Well then like a snowflake you can choose not to google that this e girl is finna ghost you for being a boring old cheugy. Or you can sip tea and learn.
That’s a mix of millennial and gen z words for you. Words take on new meanings. Some words are new. Just look at Shakespeare and words.

It is, but if you get with the times you find out “read” has a newly popular meaning. I’m just trying to stay “hip.” 😉

Reading a book to a small child has always been called reading. Literacy is literally a different word.

For my 3 year old or if my husband reads a book out loud to me? “We read...” An audiobook is a professional (usually) reading to you. It’s the voice in your head but BETTER if you’re an auditory person like me. I can audiobook on runs, in the shower, in the car. I read a lot at work-my eyes hurt.
comment in response to
post
I think the post is about people who hate on others and say ‘just because you listen to an audiobook doesn’t mean you read the book’ instead of anything to do with bonafide literacy. Like all the visual v auditory folks teaming against each other.

They are. For example, I read Christopher Paolini’s Eragon at least 3c from 2002-2005. It was a favorite & I re-read each right before a new one came out. Then…the audiobook. The narrator was wonderful (at 1.75x speed) the 5+ times I have audiobooked it in recent years. Better than my head voice.
comment in response to

I mean, you can say they aren’t the same but it is a fact that the word “read” is taking on the newer meaning of “consumed” when used in relation to books. Audiobooks may not teach you how to read but they serve the purpose of conveying an author’s idea.
comment in response to
post
That’s you. I have a dramatically different experience. Don’t belittle the experience of others just because it isn’t your own! Reading is supposed to help you expand your mind, not wall up. “Read” is developing a new meaning, just like “google” and “snowflake” have in recent years.
comment in response to
post
If you get enough people to say it then it can have that meaning. Your example falls short. Think of the words Google, or snowflake. They each have taken on an additional meaning in recent years. This is what is happening to the word “read.”
comment in response to
post
No but the meaning of the word read is changing, so you would be remiss to miss that. “Read” means consumed. It’s a newer take o the word. You read an audiobook means you consumed an audiobook. Just like snowflake now had a new meaning that is mean. New meanings for old words!
comment in response to
post
The meaning of words does change over time. Think of the word snowflake, or fag. “Read” is the new way to say you consumed a book. Consumed as in read, not as in ate, or used up. It’s a new meaning and makes sense in real life convos when you’re speaking about a book to another person.
comment in response to
post
This is about if you can say you “read” a book you listened to. The answer is yes because you “read” the book is being used to say you consumed the book. Consumed as in read, not as in ate.
comment in response to
post
Very rarely is a movie the same exact content as the book. This is about people saying you didn’t “read” a book if you listened to the audiobook, which is wrong because you consumed the content and “read” is now being used as a word for “consumed.” Consumed like read, not like ate.
comment in response to
post
I think you should re-read that person’s comment. You missed a valid point.
