Displacement? If you’re on good terms with your Ship mind, please ask them kindly to displace a knife missile into my kitchen. No I don’t crave murder I am just lazy.

As much as I like #StarTrek, I agree that the Prime Directive is kind of a very dumb source of tension. Proven by the fact it usually feels morally justified to break it so often. I have similar frustrations with Le Guin’s ekumen from her #hainishCycle series.

The same idea appears repeatedly wrt to snack plates. I happen to like the Turkish variation a lot. I just feel charcuterie is over-represented to the exclusion of variations, hence it is a bit “tired”

While I appreciate your remark is in jest, there is value in observing the effects of categorizing as a process. You might enjoy: “Zen and the Art of Motorcycle Maintenance” as this comes up. /earnest

I appreciate that for the time being, the architects of such machines cannot yet completely brainwash them to echo particular human sentiments. LLMs don’t think or feel, so they are partially invulnerable to the allure of cults and conspiracy theories. But they may emit falsehoods from cults now…

Socialism for the rich, via privatized gains. Feudalism for the rest, with losses being absorbed by the public.

Ten years ago on Mother’s Day, I told my mom that right wing terrorism was the scariest thing to me. She scoffed & rattled off some insane nonsense, hence the infrequency of calls, but like since that conversation attempt, an insurrection happened, political murder has happened, & judges arrested.
