A2: Mental health was a heart problem. Poor mental health meant you weren’t right with God. We didn’t believe in “mental health” as a medical issue — therapists and psychiatrists were treated with suspicion. “Biblical counselors” (usually a pastor) were suggested instead. #HomeschoolChat

I'm just so confused by this. What are they getting out of it? There are easier, faster ways to make money, especially if your ethics are this trash. If you're not in love with the process of writing, why are you putting books into the world? Go become a social media grifter instead.

"Call me Ishmael. Or don’t. I’ve had like six usernames over the years. Anyway, this whole mess started because I thought shipping meant relationships, not whales. Now I’m on a boat with a captain who’s basically doing a slow-burn enemies-to-lovers thing with revenge. It’s fine. We’re fine."

I'm curious about the project that the publisher passed on - does that happen often? How do you handle it? (my vote is always for re-reading marathon, preferably with cake)

Why Beethoven's 6th? It's what I put on the first time I did my taxes, and ever since, the first notes bring a grim determination to get this shit over with where moments before had only been a sort of wet-cat misery.

Were you able to stay on your psychiatric medication while donating? I massively overproduced with kid 1, but everywhere I looked to donate wanted me off the SSRIs. Would love to do it if kid 2 happens.

Whether there is the chance for a one-day miracle if I live long enough is irrelevant. The point is: I am alive, *today*, and at some point, I will not be. So if in a given moment I can make my or someone else's life better, that is what I should be doing, rather than obsessing over my illness.
