Time doesn't need to tell me that I won't get a girlfriend.
My appearance and personality already do that.

Tell everyone a random Aussie says hi and wishes them all well.

It's more "dated MMO combat" in that it relies on stats, hidden triggers & conditions, hot bar-esque inputs, and positioning rather than anything properly combat related in the more standard sense.
The combat hasn't evolved much but would suck if hand manual dodge involved.

The books always seemed to treat the characters like some abstract, a vehicle for themes spread across time and space, whereas the show concentrates it all down and makes the characters the focus.

One of the most joyful things I've ever seen was a little old man (must have been in his 90's) just standing in the middle of a promenade eating a soft serve vanilla come with such a happy expression on his face.
Made me happy just watching him eat.

As the old joke goes, an American diplomat and Soviet diplomat met up, and the American says "I really admire your country's propaganda." The Soviet says, "True, it is good, but it is nothing compared to American propaganda." The American, confused, responds "We don't have propaganda."

Omega was a shallow MacGuffin with no impact apart from meta narrative that most people either ignored or didn't understand.
I miss the old serials, shorter episodes but far more story & time to get things developed properly.
Plus genuine cliffhangers to keep people talking until next ep.
