Why I can keep straight French, tourist-Spanish, and tourist-Italian, but completely fail at Scandinavia, I have no idea, but my brain is just completely noping out at the addition of basic Norwegian.

This perhaps does explain why my father gets so annoyed by the fact that when I lived in St Andrews, I called the nearby water "the ocean", and now in Aberdeen, I call it "the North Sea". I claim that this is legitimate local variation (i.e., tourists vs oil), but who knows...
