I keep seeing headlines about people “blasting” each other. How do we disrupt news media in a way that makes headlines no longer a thing?

Washington State was THIS close to succeeding from the Union, sad people forget.

Been following the bird photographer a while and seen de Sousa’s work before, always a joy. Now I’m independently a fan. If anyone’s thinking “but I can’t do” his starting level of proportionally accurate sketching, I recommend the book “The Artist’s Way”, that part can take even less effort.

If anyone needs a senior software product manager and product strategist, act fast. I am good at managing and rapidly scaling product-management teams, especially at agencies and especially for mobile apps, but I prefer to be a hands-on owner of the growth strategy for a specific piece of software.

Personally, I come to bury Marie, not to praise her, but I do think she has a very unfair reputation. The degree of nonsense she had to put up with from her man, the more powerful monarch; that she never said the cake thing; that she financed the American Revolution; that Versailles gardens are cool

You also reference the distinction between a head of state (Charles III) and a head of government (Charles I), but this has nothing to do with Antoinette or the words “reign” and “rule”. Like Charles I, Antoinette was head of both state and government. She just had some limitations vs her husband.

I’m sorry, that makes perfect sense but is false. The words are synonyms, apart from “rule” applying to non-monarchs as well. Also, you are wrong about the power Queen Antoinette had. Not just “influence”; she had legal authority to command stuff. I think you’re confusing “consort” and “concubine”.

“Those leopards are controlled by Father and are only gonna eat the faces of the disloyal, though. We’re patriots so we don’t need protecting.” Probably.

Semantics: Pride is not a protest, it is a riot. A protest asks; a riot takes what it’s owed. When laws are chill, the riot doesn’t need to break them, and seizing public space and attention can be a family outing. But the riot is still there to actively exercise that right, not to ask for it.

You misunderstand. They are not asking Hamas to act different, they have 0 influence there; they are asking for continued (albeit conditional) US support for Israel’s ongoing military action. Its a pro-killing demonstration. But of course they should be allowed to do it anyway. They’re civilians.
comment in response to
post
Yes. They are not demonstrations for Hamas, they are attempts to focus Israeli and US support on a specific Israeli war goal. I’ll concede that war goal is far less inhumane than ‘kill all the Palestinians’ (the actual Israeli war plan), but it’s still inhumane. Anything but immediate ceasefire is.

There are videos all over the Internet of the genocide. Admissions from Netanyahu in public speeches that he plans a ‘final solution’ mass murder. You’re basically a Holocaust denier, except with daily updates about the Holocaust right in front of your eyes. You’re the very worst type of human.

Violence against Jewish marchers didn’t happen; violence against pro-Israel marchers happened. Still very wrong and a crime, all peaceful demonstrators should be protected. But equating these evil pro-Israeli monsters with “Jews” is antisemitic.

The perpetrator is Benjamin Netanyahu. Bring him to international legal justice or expect to see a lot more street justice against agents of his genocidal regime.

False. This is the first attack on civilian supporters of genocide, and fully condemnable as they are civilians, but that makes it a war crime, not a hate crime. The previous attack was not a crime at all; the genocidal diplomats were legitimate military targets.

I mean, “Queen Consort” is still Queen, still reigns, just doesn’t get to sign quite as many documents as her husband.
comment in response to
post
Idk, that’s not a semantic rule. She was still queen, and exercised more power than anyone besides the king. There being a greater power differential between her and her husband than some other royal couples doesn’t mean she didn’t also rule things.

Again, you’re preaching Zionism, not my problem you’re confused. That you and many OG Zionists pretend it’s not religious confuses nobody else. The essence of Zionism is a belief that ethnic Jews have special rights no other humans do, inc to a specific piece of “holy” land. That’s religion.

Boggles the mind how viscerally unafraid of cops he is. I mean, you’re right it’s the same thing as when my own white privilege makes me *less* afraid of cops during traffic stops, but being super stoned around snipers and German shepherds and Marine guards, etc, is epic levels I will never achieve.

You can just be extremely confused. Like all Nazis. You believing contradictory things is not my issue. Only your pro-genocide existence is.
comment in response to

You believe a fictional magical patriarch gives you the right to commit genocide. Basic Nazi shit. Jews are humans, I don’t think you qualify as one.
comment in response to

Nope you’re the Nazi Jew-hater, everyone can see. You have no idea my beliefs, just that I can identify yours. I do know you’re religious and a liar because Zionism is essentially a religious enterprise. A belief in a God-given right to a homeland in a specific place.

No sir, I have ears and eyes, it’s quite clear that Zionism is murderous ethnic supremacy, and that anyone who espouses it is the exact same type of animal as a Nazi concentration camp officer. It’s also based in religion, which is lies. No God promised anyone any land; land was acquired via murder.

Zionism is antisemitism, at the most dangerous level of blood libel. It asserts that it’s essentially Jewish to want to mass murder innocent children and steal their homes. Any psycho who associates the genocidal Israeli regime with Jewishness is slandering Jewish humans.

As a stranger, the main thing I relate to is you not forgetting this anecdote. I got a similar one, I think, so I just wish that its infinite recurrence in your head becomes, like for me, a reminder of stupidness of the human condition, and not a reason to resent any other humans.

Helped me get on Socrates’ page about all humans being dumbasses. Also makes sense on an eye-for-an-eye level (let girls exclude boys like boys exclude girls, sure, why not), but the real take-away is how freeing it is to accept you don’t need to matter to other people.

I’ve also had “WTF, how am I the most liberal one here and why do you not want my marginal labor?” experiences like that, most memorably in college, but in retrospect I find them beautiful gifts.

Easy to say “nothing funny about” a lot of stuff goin on, but fwiw the GOAT Mel Brooks credited some of the excellence of Jewish comedy (and therefore all comedy) to survivors of concentration camps. I think laughing might be as essential as not-looking-away. Maintains what we fight for.

Love that. Love people being sincere about what I can only laugh in the face of, especially if that makes them dorks.

For now. Soon our national investments in Musk’s chimpanzee-lobotomizing laboratories will produce a chip capable of dissociating anyone in El Salvador’s CCOT who dares to mentally picture the Frozen princess. Imagining IP is a good/service (idk, I’m a prophet, not an economist).
