So you're concerned that Amazon would prepare one fewer report in a scenario where a transit agency leases Amazon land that's zoned commercially with a sorting facility as an approved use and the planning commission and city council have both approved development?

Data centers and factories are industrial uses, not commercial.

If the Magnificent 7 have flat headcount in the future, it'll be because they dead-ended on AI (with the obvious analogy to Deep Blue).

There's also Windsurf or Cursor for a more full, self-contained IDE experience. (Source: I spent an evening reading about vibe coding and playing with Cline.)

I thought VS Code with the Cline plugin using (free) Gemini was okay (although I've heard Claude is better).

I don't know if it's the same ND thread, but I clipped this a few days ago because the sense of entitlement is just wild. "I bought a car that's too big so I can break the law."

"Normal person" is an interesting framing for a woman who's been an active member of the Republican party since the Bush Administration.

About 18 public comments in total. The council decided to pause any large scale renovation or redevelopment discussions for two years in light of budget issues, but may use the space for flu clinics or other one-off events. Good night!

Staff is now laying out options for the site: partial reopen with city programming, partial reopen and lease, or redevelopment.

Now staff is presenting the sites we'd have to add to our housing element if the MSB is renovated and removed from it; the BART parking lots, a former school, a former courthouse, the old library.

The new parks and rec building is across the street; the city staff is walking through an exercise of what it would cost if they added more classes there (using only a third of the old building). It's roughly a million dollars in new costs to the city every year!
comment in response to

Staff is doing a report on the condition and it's going to cost the city $65 million (today's dollars) just to renovate it. It's not clear who would occupy it after that.

If we're going to fully succeed as a state, will you be looking at repealing Prop 13, the Gann Limit, and all the other Republican "starve the government" laws California has?

This is a generic AI slop/repost "resist" account that doesn't appear to have experience in shipping posting a (real) screenshot married with a bunch of specific, but unsourced details. It matches our priors, but what if it didn't?

Digging a little more and that site (Cal Sec of State) only has "Coalition for Housing Equality sponsored by San Mateo County Association of Realtors" listed (with two donations in 2018; no SAMCAR proper) so I wonder if it's missing all the local donations? 🤔
comment in response to

That would have been my guess too, but it looks like he only has one donation recorded.

The Presidio? It's been years since I've been out there, but they have that unique manzanita and a bunch of other native shrubs.

Everyone's focused on the articulation, but what about the terrible sidewalk in the setback. How long do you think the planting in front of the left unit is going to last?

I mean they're happy to approve San Mateo County building 85 new parking spaces right next to the ocean. www.smcgov.org/parks/don-ho...
