A🧵about Pedal Bins in #disability toilets: 1) Having used said toilets over past 4 weeks I’ve found a major flaw in ALL bar one Pedal bins With no other way to open them except with a foot How crazy is that:

5) so PLEASE people who design or advise re #disabledaccess toilets STOP PUTTING PEDAL BINS IN THEM Because a large percentage of people with a #disability who need to use #disabled toilets CANNOT USE THEIR FEET

4) Surprisingly I’ve found some hospital toilets have this flaw too. The ONE #disabledaccess loo I applaud👏🏻 is at @JerseyWarTunnel Their bins had alternative access at the top & the drying facilities were next to the sink (PS fab Museum too by the way)

3) I end up putting towels either on top of bin or throwing them on the floor Plus the towel dispenser or hand dryer is often too far away from sink so I’m left leaning against it with wet hands unable to dry them Then I can’t use my crutches safely!

2) I’m non weight bearing using either traditional crutches or @iwalkfree knee crutches to get around. So how am I supposed to open the pedal bin when I’ve only got one leg? More importantly how do people #disabled with a spinal cord injury open the bin with ANY foot?

Agree. But Trump KNOWS that. This was planned. It was unpresidential, incredibly rude, and as Trump showed by his final remarks, only meant for his base. It has backfired on him though. 👍

The argument & finger pointing etc should not have happened in public. In my line of work I would have been severely reprimanded if I had done this to ANYONE in public - even if I had just cause to do so. it’s unprofessional, disrespectful & downright rude

Sue, this is such a lovely message to receive and so kind of you. THANK YOU! And thank you also for your hard work in the ICU. That is far more impressive

Tori I heard you on radio 4 #TheLifeScientific last night. I’m an ICU nurse & was driving home from a 12.5hr shift. I know nothing about your line of work but your ability to explain complex stuff to a layperson is astounding. Your enthusiasm was infectious. I could have listened to you for hours

If we brought back community care hospitals, A&E would work as it should rather than overflowing with no sign of improvement City hospitals can have circa >130 acute beds with patients medically fit but unable to go home due to req’ing rehab/care Imagine if those beds were freed up?
