Wondering what the estimated 360,000 Americans in prison for drugs offences (over 75% Black or Latino) are thinking about how a ketamine-using White supremacist got so much power?

These figures should be heading the news every evening. Except, as we know, many lives of our fellow humans really don’t count (and go uncounted)

This looks so great: an evening with @liangrhea.bsky.social (social media medical royalty) hosted by @medicalwomenuk.bsky.social www.eventbrite.co.uk/e/an-evening...

Happy 86th birthday to Sir Ian McKellen!

Do you work in EM, but are nervous about dealing with all this "Neurodiversity stuff". Don't worry, we're all a work in progress, the important thing is you're doing the work This day might help along that journey. rcem.ac.uk/events/chang...

“We’ve got to do the same for social media— it’s the equivalent of putting our kids in cars with no seat belts, with no air bags, and having them drive on roads with no speed limits and no traffic lights. And that is just morally unacceptable.” www.nbcnews.com/politics/con...

Congratulations to Dr Jacqueline Bello on receiving the Gold Medal of the The New York State Radiological Society, Inc today. A generous mentor, tireless advocate and luminary leader. Thank you Jackie for your friendship and guidance since the beginning of my career.

In a landmark public health achievement, Papua New Guinea has been validated by WHO for eliminating #trachoma as a public health problem. Trachoma, a neglected tropical disease & the world’s leading infectious cause of blindness, no longer poses a public health threat in the country. bit.ly/43wbr8C

Not for the first time this week I find myself asking what on earth is going through Keir Starmer’s mind? The best interpretation is that this crass decision was made without his knowledge and will soon be fixed.

Really good piece. Disputes about authorship, encouraged by a perverse promotion system that discourages collaboration, have done so much damage to academic endeavour. I’ve mentored lots of young people & seen how often they are exploited and bullied my egotistical seniors.

The UK COVID Inquiry should be required viewing for anyone working in public health. Hopefully people will find my appearance useful youtu.be/kXntLNz_xXs?... but Iain Buchan on Liverpool's experience yesterday was excellent and Sir Paul Nurse, today, is amazing

I had a productive call with Ursula von der Leyen this morning. We’re ready to build on our free trade relationship, bolster economic security, and work side-by-side on shared defence and security challenges. When Canada and the European Union build together, our futures are stronger.

Thanks @meganranney.bsky.social for an inspiring keynote at the ELAM graduation today. You are a true #NewPower leader. Thanks for the shout out for #RadEqual which has always been about channeling rather than hoarding power

This is what a rigged economy looks like: In the 1970s, CEOs made 27 times more than the average worker. In the 1980s, CEOs made 48 times more than the average worker. This decade, CEOs are making 354 times more than the average worker. That has got to change.

Katie Phang: And now that my time here at MSNBC comes to a close, I am taking that fight back to a familiar place… I hope you'll follow along with me as I continue to meet you where you are at places like Substack and YouTube with fellow truth tellers like MeidasTouch…

The Trump administration threatens the USA’s most prestigious medical journal. All journals publish good and bad articles. Sometimes they take a position informed by the evidence. But applying political pressure and compromising editorial independence is a red line. www.bmj.com/content/389/...

While much of the country is focused on the spiraling measles outbreak, experts warn that whooping cough and other preventable diseases could get much worse with falling vaccination rates and the Trump admin. slashing of public health infrastructure. www.propublica.org/article/whoo...

Five minutes can make a world of difference. After a difficult patient encounter, deep breaths, grounding techniques, or simply stepping away for a moment can help regain clarity and presence. How do you recharge? #Mindfulness #PhysicianBurnout #PatientCare #MedSky closler.org/lifelong-lea...

We crossed quite the tragic landmark on Measles cases in Ontario this week: 1000 cases in this outbreak. I thought my clinical experience 🌍 was unique & that I’d never have to see measles cases in Canada, where it was previously eliminated. Now this lethal childhood disease seems has a foothold.

So who is heading to #ARRS25 this weekend? Hope to see u there while we remind ourselves why we do all of this- patient care & awesome colleagues! And cocktails- tasty cocktails..... #RadSky

Just 5 years ago, this was an artificial sea of bracken fern. Now it's a self-seeded young native rainforest, already complete with bluebells, celandine, violet, and other wildflowers + ferns. Removing sheep grazing was enough for all this to happen. #Rewilding 🌏

Maybe we should honor the women who were real astronauts. From left to right are Shannon W. Lucid, Margaret Rhea Seddon, Kathryn D. Sullivan, Judith A. Resnik, Anna L. Fisher, and Sally K. Ride. NASA selected all six women as their first female astronaut candidates in January 1978.

Masks work. Lockdowns work. Vaccines work. Vaccines don’t cause autism. Ivermectin is for parasite-infested horses. Pass it on.

Today's tree: appropriately for Good Friday, a Judas Tree (named for the disciple who allegedly hanged himself on one). This one is in the park opposite our synagogue. No antisemitic implications, apparently, as our rabbi also has one in his front garden. Happy Passover and Easter!

My name is Ben and I have autism. I’m not less than anyone else I just see the world differently. Lately I’ve been working on losing weight by walking. I walked 5 miles yesterday. It’s also helps with my confidence and I can enjoy the outdoors and the scenery.
