Now, whether or not a regime change is wise, and if a new, more extreme leader may rise in place of the current leadership, is another question

Folks…plenty to be outraged about on this topic, but Bill didn’t write this article, and it isn’t even from the Bulwark. It says nothing about American troops fighting in Iran. It does mention, among other things, economic and political sanctions to put cracks the regime and Iran’s people.

Unfortunately it looks like that will be the Steelers

Awesome experience for you with your boys. Have you been to PNC Park in Pittsburgh yet? If not, visit, and then I'm curious where it would rank on your list.

It’s a great feat, so let’s make sure it’s being described as such. Nobody has scored more goals than Ovechkin, but to say nobody has done it more frequently is inaccurate. Ovechkin is seventh on the career goals/game list

I read that as business leaders giving the most polite pushback possible against an administration that they are hoping will grant exceptions to their respective companies

Traditional process is now considered by the far right/MAGA to be establishment or Deep State tactics. They’ve been convinced there’s only one man who can make change and “save” America. What it previously meant to have conservative views is no longer the case. Some are still soul searching..

After reading the article, it sounds like he’s speaking as someone that still has faith in the institutions and checks and balances. Should the courts act brazenly politically, or Trump ignores court orders without repercussions, I’d be interested to see what he says then

The law did not say that. It addressed things like platforms (Apple/Google) distributing the app and third party web servicers, but the app would still work. No NEW users could download and use it. “Going dark” was nothing but a political ploy to suck up to Trump and make him look good.
comment in response to post
There’s nothing in the law about the service being unavailable. That’s a decision by Tik Tok. It’s nothing but an attempt to make Biden and Dems look bad and Trump/Republicans look good. Miraculously (?), once Trump is President, the service will be restored.

Yes, and Tomlin had a huge hand in picking Pickett. He can’t get credit for doing more with less and ignore that he has had huge input on putting his teams together in the first place

The Tomlin/Steelers relationship has an air of Dixon/Pitt MBB towards the end, but if feels like this one has lingered much longer and with less results or reasons to keep him around.
comment in response to post
No, but it’s well known he has a large say in things outside of just coaching the team. You don’t think he has input on the personnel to execute his playing philosophy? It’s getting difficult to keep making changes all over the team and org and ignore the one constant in that time (head coach)
comment in response to post
Don’t disagree with any of that, but when is the current situation no longer working? The end to this season, where the D started leaking oil down the stretch, and looked as if they gave up in the playoff game, is really bad for a defensive head coach who has a big role planning and game day calls

Kent puts his name on his license plate. My mother does the same thing with my underwear. Your mother puts license plates on your underwear? How do you sit?

Yep. That was one of the major issues when Covid happened. Nobody expected the rush of people that wanted to do update their existing homes. A lot (not all) of the interior lumber used in construction comes from Canada. That’s why prices spiked and it took so long for inventories to catch up.

Musk owns the largest platform in the world and used it to stymie anything not pro-Tump. At the same time, MSM failed in their main job of applying the same standards to each candidate. Trump lowered the bar so far for his expectations that putting together a complete sentence is “presidential”

One party was trying to appeal to voters using truth, hope, and a plan. The other preyed on fear and anger, with no regard for the truth, and just flooded the zone with lie after lie. Legacy media such as LA Times and WaPo are now run by billionaires who tipped the scales of their coverage.

Harris lost by less that 1.5 points. She got over 75 million votes; more than Trump in the last election, and more than both candidates in 2016. You’re criticizing her stance on policies when Trump literally had nothing but buzz words he threw out there…zero policies; “concepts of a plan”. x/2

You can be criticized anywhere, but this site is far better than X is now. If it’s about your op ed, then I would have to disagree with your overall point. Sure, both Biden and Harris deserve some blame, but you’re using logical, conventional analysis, and that’s all out the window right now. /1

Westmoreland is more Southwest PA. Altoona is just outside of State College in the central part of the state, but it is still in a pretty red area.

What did I miss? He said months ago that he was going to block it. Did he reverse course along the way, or did people once again take the, “he doesn’t mean what he says” stance and are somehow genuinely shocked now?

I worked higher up in a for-profit institution during the first Trump administration. The things DeVos and her Dept of Ed did to favor questionable accrediting agencies and education institutions even surprised the schools that were getting the favors. I can only imagine how it’ll be this time

Still think Poni is giving them a pass for that loss?

I feel like, at this point, his regular season accolades, as impressive as they are, are diminished until he’s able to deliver in big games
comment in response to post
In his post-game presser, he basically said their losses going back to the AFC championship were because they just beat themselves. Yes they’ve had a lot of self-inflicted wounds, but you have to give the other teams credit, especially the Steelers.

Cautiously optimistic. I think he’ll be effective but not other-worldly because the defense will keep him relatively in check. I also, for the first time in a long time, feel like the offense can keep pace, if not win the game flat out, even in a shootout.
comment in response to post
It’s more about believing in the security of our elections, not Trump’s impulses. Absent convincing evidence, I don’t doubt the election was fair. That doesn’t mean I don’t think Russia tried to influence it, and that they haven’t helped develop a huge right wing media sphere that pushes propoganda

Fair. Head to head is obviously the best measuring stick. I’m optimistic about their ability to contain Lamar. I just hope their pass rush and defending against the deep ball doesn’t open them up to getting picked apart short/intermediate over the middle
comment in response to post
Genuinely curious, why the Ravens ahead of the Steelers right now? Lamar is playing well, but their defense is horrible, and missing Hamilton makes it even worse
