Because stupid people would never forgive us for inconveniencing them and no one currently in the political establishment has the balls to tell those people to pound sand.

Most obvious example that comes to mind is Turkey; their military seized control a few times and then returned to civilian rule not long after. I concede that even here though, the military did turn to repression in the interim, which I would expect if it happens in the states.

“Historically, militaries always side with the authoritarians and fascists”
This isn’t actually true though?

Seriously, the fact that all of these people don’t even use the original definition of the Singularity put forward by Kurzweil and effectively just use it as shorthand for “computer become genie”

Not that I’ve checked personally, but I’m pretty sure Grok does at least return truthful responses to queries about 2020 being rigged (i.e. it notes speculation on the matter but says there’s no real evidence of tampering).

Yeah, the fact that mothers are also the single most pervasive adult authority figure in the lives of most children undoubtedly contributes to this as well. Conservatives have had angry-child-who-doesn’t-want-bedtime aura for a long time now

They were gonna name one for Barry Goldwater, but Trump heard there was a ship with gold on it that wasn’t named after him and got jealous.

Education being women dominated doesn’t just drive their anti-education sentiments; I honestly think it’s an important part of how these people characterize themselves as rebels in spite of how frankly authoritarian they are (i.e. they still resent female authority figures from childhood).

I’d say they’re penny-wise and pound-foolish, but the former part of that statement is incorrect.

Seriously. I’ve only seen like 1 other person talking about how Russia probably could have prevented a ton of this damage by just keeping the planes in hangars even when far from the frontline.
