Weather report for Garðabær, Iceland, May 9 2025: 1 deg C, winds gusting to 6 m/s and snowing.

Just came here to say I'm a huge believer in the message behind the song "All you need is love"

We've got some exciting things brewing, so stay tuned. Yeah, this is a vague posting. I hear it is all the rage these days 😀

Today's pondering: Once you start getting begbounties, does that mean you're site is easy to find and secure enough that the only thing to find are info-level issues, or are those engaging in begbounties so incompetent that info-level issues are the only thing they are able to find?

I went down a mine that was abandoned in 1880s. Tough to find, even tougher to safely rig ropes to get in. Found many things including boxes of ancient gelignite mostly soaked and destroyed but a few intact - look at the name printed on it - Alfred Nobel himself 😍 epic find ❤️ time froze down here!

Our 2025 event has come to an end. We feel it was a smashing success, hopefully you all agree. Thanks to all the wonderful speakers and great participation. Special thanks to Lisa for a great keynote. Stay tuned for the 2026 event. If there is anything we can do better next time please let us know.

We are excited to see everyone next week. Please remember that lunch is provided both days. You should have received an email with your tickets, which has a barcode you show when you arrive at registration. If you haven't received that email, please get in touch ASAP and we'll fix it right away.

Our 2025 conference is just over a week away. If you have already purchased your ticket, thank you, and we look forward to seeing you next week. You should have received an email with your ticket, if you haven't seen it please let us know via [email protected] and we will fix it right away.

Our badges will go to the printer next Monday, 10 March. If we haven't gotten your order by then, your badge will be hand-made at the door when you check in. bsidesreykjavik.com/events/list/

Have you got your tickets to our 2025 conference and training taking place on 18 & 19 Mars at the clubhouse for Valur FC? If not, it is not too late to secure your tickets. Each ticket is only ISK 2000 per person. Lunch will be provided each day. Full details are at: bsidesreykjavik.com

Tickets are still available for our conference next month and the workshop the day before. If you encounter any difficulties purchasing tickets, please let us know. Tickets for the conference and each of the training are 2000 ISK (14 USD/EUR). Includes free lunch. bsidesreykjavik.com/events/list/.

We love our sponsors. Both Darknet ehf and @oruggtnet.is have signed up as silver-level sponsors. We are beyond grateful for their support. If you want to join their ranks, check out bsidesreykjavik.com/sponsorship-... and get in touch.

Our payment process believes they have fixed the period issue with our ticketing site. Apparently, they found an issue with how our account was configured regarding Mastercard acceptance and fixed it. It should be safe to order your tickets now. bsidesreykjavik.com/events/list/

As you are grabbing your tickets for our two day conference in a couple of months note that each of the workshops requires their own ticket, in addition to the conference ticket. bsidesreykjavik.com/events/list/

We have not been able to pin down the reason behind these random unexplained payment failures in our systems during our testing. We've decided though to open up ticket sales to everyone. So go ahead and get your tickets, if you get any issues, please send an email to [email protected]

For those anxious about getting tickets to our 2025 conference, don't despair. Tickets will be going on sale shortly. We are working out some kinks in our new ticketing system, then as soon as that is all sorted the tickets will go on sale. Remember this year is a two day event. bsidesreykjavik.com

I wrote a not so little blog article on how we can counter all this hate and division in todays society, with love, acceptance, compassion, respect and consent. It's about 5000 word, or about a 30 min read. supergeek.us/consent-rela...

These conservative talking point about minimum wage is too high sounds like argument for slavery and are frankly disgusting. If you can't afford to pay employees a livable wage, you can't afford to have employees. This might mean your business plan is not viable. mynorthwest.com/4026936/rant...

Forcing users to accept a single algorithm is bad. Having it be closed source is even worse. The reason TikTok, X, and Meta keep their algorithms secret is not because they contain magic AI technology. It's because they don't want anyone to see the control they're exerting over society.

I find Microsoft Edge to be a very competent browser, but constant badgering and trickery from Windows to get me to make it my primary browser makes it so I simply can not bring myself to use it as my primary browser. I'm sorry that's just the way I am.

We've been working with ICANN and number of other cybersecurity specialist on an in person event at ISNIC HQ in Reykjavik, February 6 at 1300. It would be great if filled up their conference hall. For program detail and registration please check out www.icann.org/en/engagemen....

Sad but true.

How it feels arguing on social media:

Hello @alyssam-infosec.bsky.social. Saw your Twitter post so figured I'd say hi on here. Been on here for a long time but I spend most of my time over there as that's where the interactions are.

Happy Independence day to all my American friends

Don't forget to get your ticket to our may 18th conference.

Tickets are now on sale for our May 2024 conference. www.midix.is/en/bsides-re... Get yours before they sell out. I also want to take this opportunity to once again express our sincere gratitude to our sponsors, Darknet ehf and @oruggtnet.is. Without the support from them we couldn't do what we do.

I think I've given up on dating apps, not because they are a hot dumpster fire, which they are, but because I'm looking for strong confident women and they aren't on the dating apps. I just can't connect with the insecure women that are on the dating apps.

Just collated all the domains I have registered, across three different registrars and found out that I personally own 14 domains. I know I'm a supergeek, but maybe that's a bit too much 😀😎😛😊 Here is a breakdown of the TLD's and how many in which TLD: com:1, de:1, is:4, link:1, net:2, org:1, us:4

We would like to thank our first sponsor of the year. @oruggtnet.is comes to us as a silver sponsor and we couldn't be more thrilled. Please join us in thanking them for making our May conference a possibility. If you want to help enable and spread cybersecurity knowledge please get in touch.

Spread the word! 📣 #NOH8 photo shoot March 24th in #Anaheim, CA: fb.me/e/45GzlPP5E

It's been 60 days...& the powers that be just keep on virtue signaling.

Hijacking the bipolar thread for a little PSA

Just a reminder Israel developed a whole host of really gnarly spyware and have been caught putting it on journalist and activists phones I wouldn’t be clicking any links they produce including the fake hamas website they are parading around.

Fascism is usually invited in. Please, America, do the right thing next year.

The Tories are so good with our money. Kinda makes you proud, doesn't it?

This is how the world ends: fascist authoritarianism either voted in or imposed, so that a tiny minority of paranoid, ludicrously wealthy sociopaths and psychopaths can continue to defend their hoarded wealth and privilege while divided populations feud over the rest and the planet burns or floods.

For at least the last quarter century the big players in the creative industries have been strong-arming creatives into relinquishing copyright. Copyright is what enables individual creatives. That’s it. And it’s incredibly important for human culture.
