I read a lot, make way too many dumb jokes, and occasionally do some journalism.

I sometimes do the same thing! I've read several books while walking laps around my kitchen. Whatever works!

There is no trick. It just takes dedication. Attention spans build up like a muscle: exercise it and it will strengthen.
I have insane ADHD and I used to spend up to 15 hours a day online. Now I spend maybe 30 minutes online and read 100+ books a year.
The solution isn't easy, but it is simple.

I'm working on an article about this very subject, so I won't go into too many details now. But, to summarise:
1. Yes, it sucks when you used to read a lot and now because of attention deficit issues you can't.
2. You can fix this by putting your phone in another room and sitting down to read.

Everybody in the comments posting quips about Trump like there hasn't been a boycott in support of Palestine for over a year 🤔 That hasn't stopped, guys.

Ah yes, the good old days of [checks notes] waiting to launch nuclear war and bombing Vietnamese civilians.
It's been this way for decades. This author needs to wake up. He hasn't fought a decent war in his life. There's no such thing.

According to Forbes you're worth 5.7 BILLION dude. Think you might have a better shot at this than anything us plebs can come out with.

One.
As soon as I see a post I don't like, I delete my whole account and live off-grid for a few weeks until I'm calm enough to remake.

When I was struggling with suicidal thoughts at age 16 my parents got me a Bunny Suicides poster. Dozens of cartoon bunnies killing themselves using various methods 😂 Still think spite was the prevailing reason I didn't end up doing it.

It's about precedent. We don't know how far this will go. Could be publicity for Trump. Whatever. Politicians manufacture favour all the time.
But your joy at the younger generations' distress was real. They will remember.
There's already division by class and race. Don't make it generation, too.

Perhaps it wasn't meant to, but it does.

I have no problem with kids choosing to be grateful. It's wonderful when decent parents get acknowledgement from appreciative kids. My problem is with this shaming attitude. A toddler isn't even going to remember this -- why is a child of this age being preemptively berated for not being grateful?

Kids don't have to bow down in gratitude because when things got tough their parents decided to continue to do what they committed to doing when they decided to bring a child into the world. Like oh thanks for not letting me starve whenever you get sick Dad. Appreciate it ❤️

Nobody is immune to these, and if you think you don't have an accent, you do. There's always going to be someone who pronounces common words differently to you, and I wish we could see this as straightforward variance rather than assume someone is smarter because they say "Dad" rather than "Dayad."
