Sarah Kendzior's They Knew argues that this is a criminal enterprise which intends to tear down the US and sell it for parts. So, it's not stupidity; it's organized crime. I would like to see this regime's criminal history and intent get more press.

Christianity can be as good or as evil as the Christian who wields it. A hammer can be good when used to build a house for someone who needs a roof over their head. A hammer can be evil when used to bash skulls in. Neither hammer is a fake hammer.

Yeah this sounds like an endorsement of abolishing borders.

I think that’s true, but I just can’t do rhetorical strategy right now. I need leaders who will tell the plain truth, which is that a hate group has taken over the US govt and intends to bankrupt the country and sell it for parts.

I know the debt ceiling does not exist in other countries and it’s yet another thing critically wrong with US govt, but I see any praise for President Musk or his VP as capitulation. Maybe I’m wrong on this one.

Yeah, I don’t know how the US can rebuild while one of the two major parties is determined to destroy the government.

So do a thing that’s probably a good idea (get rid of the debt ceiling) as part of a scheme that is a very bad idea (unless you’re a billionaire/gangster).
Sort of like calls to reign in Pentagon spending, I suppose.

It would be hard to overstate to my cisgender readers how much this vote has damaged the Democratic Party among LGBTQ+ people, who make up 10% of the United States and a larger percentage of the Democratic Party.
Many will never forget it.
It will be a long road to rebuild from here.

5 minute old me would have had to, for example, name the 3 branches of US government.
How would I know that? And how would I know if they want the fake answer (executive, judicial, legislative) or the real answer, oil, pharma, Fox News?

I’m re-reading Zinn’s People’s History and it shows over and over how things like the NLRB were minimal reforms meant to stifle revolt. Now, the right wants to tear all that down as if there won’t be consequences.

A system of supremacy, which has a foundational lie that some lives are worth more than others.

Corporate capture & the channeling of the wealthy elites’ concerns. And it ignores marginalized people. I don’t care what that millionaire thinks. I do care what that homeless person thinks.

I read Caste by Isabel Wilkerson over the summer, and that background helps me understand what happened with women in this election.

All I see to do right now is to keep unlearning the apocryphal US history I was taught and keep looking for small ways to help others less fortunate than me. Keep opposing hate and lies with care and truth, in any way I can manage.
