I love this rowan tree on our Dartmoor hillside, pictured here in August and this morning, exquisite in both its forms. Dartmoor folklore tells us that a rowan planted by the house protects inhabitants from malign enchantments. It's also a tree much loved by faires, especially when it's in bloom.
