Cancel their Netflix subscriptions and tell them no ice cream

The semiliterate people who use chatgpt like to point to calculators as a precedent of assistive technology but the thing is: calculators actually calculate. A calculator really does let you outsource calculation. It does exactly what it is supposed to do, and marketed as doing, reproducibly.

Tremendously silly behaviour if true. This is the sort of fatuous fuckwittage Johnson used to get up to. I thought we were led to believe we have a serious-minded prime minister now

"“I had a one-star rating for a book that hadn’t even been seen by my copy editor. When I raised it with Goodreads they wouldn’t interfere as they said the reviewer had a perfect right to predict if they’d enjoy it or not..."

Incredible how every single time this guy lies – literally every fucking day, all the time about things big and small – Peter Baker and his colleagues at the New York Times act like its the first time. Only a bunch of fools as big as they are would fail to note the pattern.

Toyota Corollas are much better flying machines than people give them credit for! Nicely handled...

On the plus side, young people spending all their time looking at their phones has led to a great reduction in kites being flown into power lines.

"It was the average of times"

There's also the additional fact that "Laycock de Normanville Overdrive" is the greatest prog rock band name ever left right there on the table

Yes please, universe, make it so

“I have watched with dismay and increasing horror as my nephew, an educated man who is well aware of his heritage, has become the architect of immigration policies that repudiate the very foundation of our family’s life in this country.” www.politico.com/magazine/sto...

The thing about being a writer and admitting to using AI is that you are then simply telling the world that you are not, in fact, a writer, and I don't quite understand the point of doing that. Very little of writing is the putting of words on paper. The rest is all the rest.

Forgot that I got a picture of this the other day, the charger rental you can only rent chargers from if your phone is already charged. I hate this thing so much

Some excellent reasons why the machines will never replace real historians, to which I know @cathwarr.bsky.social among many others would concur

“rewrite the entire corpus of human knowledge”

yes, it looks ridiculous but it does actually work!

Just took a bottle of water out of the door pocket of my car and emptied it out cause it's been there a while (tap refill). It was hand-wash hot
