This is so true. Disability rights have not benefitted from the grassroots social justice movements that those with other protected characteristics have benefitted from recently. That needs to change, and it isn’t just about benefits, it’s also about being visible to and valued by communities.

Shrinking NHS provision means school staff are having to perform complex medical procedures on children with SEND NHS bodies often expect school staff to perform tracheostomies, suctioning etc - sparking safety fears from heads By me, for Schools Week schoolsweek.co.uk/an-accident-...

Grateful to @cjayanetti.bsky.social and @schoolsweek.bsky.social for covering this.

Not far off music perfection.

My latest for @tesmagazine.bsky.social is on the trajectory to inclusive pedagogy :) www.tes.com/magazine/tea...

Next up on my reading list, this much anticipated book from @stephenunwin.bsky.social

I talk about the history of this hateful word in my new book. Shame on the Observer for using it in its leader headline.

I know I keep banging on about my designs but it’s not easy being a small business at the moment. Have a look at my wares and please repost. gailmyerscough.co.uk Thanks!

Would you believe me if I told you that councils paid the Government of Abu Dhabi £208 million for children’s homes and special education last year? And £172 million the year before that?

He’s a certified genius is our @captaink77.bsky.social

I’ve long held the view that community led SEND partnerships, that foster knowledge exchange between the mainstream and specialist sectors, driven by a locally informed understanding of the community’s needs, are key to system reform. This might be an interesting way to look at their development.

One of the best things about my Yr10 child’s secondary education has been seeing the strong commitment to support him to get the best possible grade. Teachers providing elective lunchtime and after school sessions for additional input and he really values the opportunity.

The privilege of being straight is that you never have to look for these symbols. You don’t have to wait for someone to clock you or your partner, and wait to see how they’ll react. It is easy when you’ve had that privilege to eye-roll about symbolism and how unnecessary it feels…

An interesting day, started off at 02:40 with someone trying to break into my car, then I played 18 holes of golf with my eldest for the first time (he did quite well), and now I’ve been bitten by the Hamster we are pet sitting, we were told it liked being handled. Well I beg to differ!

Interesting!!! Getting CPD working well is the heart of successful improvements in the classroom. Make all the documents and policies you want, but change comes through investing in people and believing they can and want to improve!

The below is from Merseyside Police’s twitter account. Please don’t speculate or share distressing content online.

Well someone is doing massive deep dives into what he's saying about policy... open.substack.com/pub/samf/p/w...

Lovely moment today at preschool where we identified a problem and figured out some viable solutions. Team work is the best when it's going well. It all starts with listening and relationships. #EduSky

Joint headship be like……

This is spot on 👇 Political leadership is based on doing what will improve the lives of the population, not being obsessed with what the polls say. Get it right and the polls will look after themselves, because people’s lives will be evidentially better.

I couldn’t agree more! I was discussing with @simonknight100.bsky.social about the need for a definition of inclusion! I find this report to be genuinely hopeful- a fresh approach, honest and thoughtful. Thank you @cfyounglives.bsky.social bsky.app/profile/tesm...

Our most amazing chief reporter @samanthajbooth.bsky.social HAS WON the specialist journalist of the year at the Press Awards A truly phenomenal achievement. She beat off journalists reporting on war with her *amazing* journalism exposing the SEND crisis So well deserved
