This magnifies the problemswith the Democratic Party. These two draw massive crowds talking about issues that poll anywhere from 65% favorability to over 80%. Meanwhile 2/3 of the party (a their donors) label them as 'socialist', 'extreme', 'radical' etc. That is why Dems lost working people.

Once again Elon takes the side of Putin, and all the communist and authoritarian governments who hated VOA for spreading democracy. Trump has a foreigner calling American values 'propaganda'.

363 House members and 84 Senators take donations from Lockheed who make the F-35. Let's how well this goes over.

The talking points couldn't be easier: "We refuse to let Trump and Elon Musk take away your Social Security, your Medicaid,, your Medicare and to dismantle the VA. We won't stand for it".
No need to mention shutdown. If it's brought up "That's on the GOP".

Trump sees himself as a dealmaker. He's known Schumer for decades. Schumer should have demanded to meet with Trump directly, and put him over a barrel, saying Dems will crash the economy and people will blame Trump. Then give a list of demands to be met BEFORE voting. This guy's an amateur. Retire.
comment in response to

Congressional Republicans have no power, they have surrendered it to Trump, so Schumer is just empowering Trump and Musk to keep doing what they're doing. Trump is from NY, so he knew how easy it would be to roll Schumer and get the deal done.

Why stop there? Why not say Canada could turn each province into 3 states, and other areas also become more states, and Dems gain 15 states, 30 Senators, and a gazillion Reps? Or say 'but the GOP will put conditions and voting restrictions on the new state for 100 years as part of the deal'.

He says if there's a shutdown Musk and Trump can do whatever they want. Why can't Democratic presidents get to do what they want during a shutdown? And why don't presidents want more shutdowns if it gives them more power?

Tell Schumer he either shuts down the government or loses the remaining goodwill of independents like me. I am a New Mexico voter registered as 'no party affiliation'. Everyday Democrats give me another reason to not support them. You are giving Trump complete control of the government. Weak.

What a gaslighting sack of shit. Makes me proud to be registered as 'no party affiliation'.

He is a multi-generational heir from a mega rich French aristocratic family, hence his ability to just lie about whatever he wants, because that is what aristocrats get to do. He did suggest, however, maybe we could eat cake.

This is why Dems lose. Republicans control every branch and twig of government, but Democrats are ready to take the blame for the GOP's failures. Just pathetic.
I don't want anymore "Won't you contribute $5 to save Democracy?" emails.

Biden: "Here's a massive investment in manufacturing".
Trump: "Cancel it"
Media: "Trump wants to bring back manufacturing, but is cratering the economy a unique way to do it?"

But they won't save face, the entire party will be seen as lying cowards, and lose the support of independents like me. I hate the GOP, but refuse to become a Democrat because of shit like this. Don't tell me we're heading toward a dictatorship, and then vote to fund it.

It's the whole administration. They all group up rich and privileged and convinced they're smarter and better than everyone else. Hence RFK Jr. going on TV and spouting nonsense as though people should believe him over doctors because he's an aristocrat. Musk, Bessent, they're all like this.

This admin is a bunch of horrible heirs who are only 'executives' because they inherited money. They think good management is punishing 'the little people' that work for them. American citizens, however, are customers and shareholders paying for services, not employees. Govt. serves, not rules.

If Dems vote for this, I don't want to hear a single Dem scream about 'ThReAt to DeMoCrAcY!' ever again. If you are willing to hand the government, and my Social Security and Medicare, over to DOGE, you're as bad as the GOP. Maybe those 'both sides bad people' were right all along.

Except he already did turn them off once, after Putin told him if Ukraine attacks his fleet, he'll use nukes. Musk initially denied speaking with Putin, then admitted it. He also posted a poll on Twitter asking if Crimea should have a vote on being Russia, which is a Putin talking point.

40 lbs of fentanyl go into the US from Canada, 900+ lbs of fentanyl go into Canada from the US. Interviewers need to start calling these people out, or they become complicit in the fall of the US.

Khanna fell into the trap: Get Dems talking about trans kids when on Fox, instead of talking about Trump and Musk. He should have said "We have far more important things to discuss on this show. It's simple, let's stop bullying kids, and stop the fascist takeover".

Those 'leaders' should be the Republicans in Congress, who politely point out they control the purse strings, they support Ukraine, and the threats of harm from Musk and Trump need to stop. Then it's game over.
comment in response to

All the GOP needs to do is a joint press conference, announcing they side with Ukraine, they get to decide spending, and the death threats against members of Congress need to stop. Bring it all into the light and inoculate the party against Musk/Trump/Putin.

Universal healthcare polls at almost 80% across parties. Social Security polls over 80% across parties. Investing in a social safety net to reduce crime & poverty polls in the 60's. Even right wing parties in rich countries keep these and more. But here 'center right' means putting the rich 1st.

I'd like to see a handful of moderate Dems negotiate with the GOP, get tons of heat for it, agree to a bill, then vote 'no' when the time came, forcing the process to start all over. They would immediately tell the media "We never agreed to give Musk your money". Make the GOP look like fools.

Senators and House members need to hold press conferences, and without naming Trump, explain they and their families are under death threats. Explain this is what Russia does, not the US, and they won't stand for it. Basically inoculate Congress so Trump can't play this card secretly.
