ooh! the only one of these I've read is North Continent Ribbon by Ursula Whitcher, which is a spectacularly brilliant book.

I forgot the best part! She did I Want To Come Over mashed up with Red Wine Supernova (why don’t you come over!) isn’t that just perfect

Forever litany at this time of year: Is This Dress Too Short For Work What If I Hitch It Down Tho

In other news, I saw Melissa Etheridge tonight and she was very good.

Oh this is such good news. Abortion is still “illegal” in one sense, but now almost never an offence liable to prosecution.

the reread continues (now, Left Hand of Darkness)

In my big Ursula Le Guin reread I have just finished off The Dispossessed, which is still incredible: still an amazing work of political philosophy that is at the same time 100% a work of genre SF

I have a new story out today! As the title says, it's about a Faerie King touring the human realm. It's also about social media fame, parasocial relationships, street food, and the very human need to feel part of a story that's bigger than ourselves. www.lightspeedmagazine.com/fiction/when...

I was kneeling on the floor at a gig to talk to a friend in the seated section and Dessa ruffled my hair gently to move me out of the way

I’m really astonished and sad at the Air India crash in Ahmedabad. Air India in my memory is full of terrible bombings & hijackings; somehow (what looks like) an ordinary crash seems very unfair.

Found Earthsea in the morning, bought this in the afternoon. I really do recommend this kind of systematic revisit.

In re the Le Guin reread, a lovely Earthsea in the railway arch cafe book swap!

I'm reading a Michael Gilbert mystery again, this one about small-seaside-town planning committee intrigue, and so far so good but I want a MURDER. no one is yet DEAD.

when it's a sunny evening in June & everyone you know is a cycling fanatic, it would be nice to be one also, and yet. and yet.

I’m friend 1, I also love this

Can’t find one of my books. Amazon helpfully informs me it was delivered on time and since then I have had 17 years to lose it.

this year I’m weirdly annoyed by the daylight. Must it be light at 10pm? Can we just have the day be over sometime?

Ed Sheeran’s new song sounds like the big title number from a mid-2000s Hindi urban-set cheerful romcom, and it’s GREAT

My worst boss ever was a woman, but I bet yours wasn’t!

so I love a two-girls-and-a-dog deep dive podcast as much as anyone, but I do love it when you sit down with a BBC one and the first guest is like "oh yeah I was the state governor at the time of the disaster"

everyone: baking requires ABSOLUTE PRECISION this means for INDIANS ALSO recipe: use one cup (four ounces) conversion app: 4 ounces? is 113.397g! me: closes tab, goes into the west

Today's new Wikipedia article: the "Tumbling Lassie" case of 1687, where the Court of Session held in very firm tones that "we have no slaves in Scotland". en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tumblin... (Unfortunately, they then apparently forgot this, and slavery was not ruled illegal again until 1778...)
