The answer to this is really simple - Putin gave them permission, when the Russians invaded a sovereign nation.

Haha, I read the twist and it was so hilarious. Earth would 100% be known as a water planet to aliens. Be like us going to the Pools of Bubbling Arsenic Planet.

Everything is Illuminated. Brilliant film, gave me a deep appreciation for Ukraine. I couldn’t go through watching it again, although I highly recommend it.

He was asked about it specifically, and if her transphobia would stop him playing the character, and he said “heavens, no!”

The California Bar also did nothing about the decades of fraud reports regarding Tom Girardi and there’s evidence at least some of them were complicit. So this tracks, for me.

That James Patterson news was…gross. And I’m not a writer, outside of papers for university. Can’t imagine how demoralizing it must be.

Writing humour is an incredible skill, and almost no writers I’ve read in my life made me laugh as hard as The Stupidest Angel did. Fascists can’t stand humour, bc it surprises people, and when their guard is down, they learn things. Keep kicking the darkness until it bleeds daylight.

Legit makes me wonder what misconduct we might be finding out about Newsome soon, with this shift to the right.

I named my child, I loved their name. They told me it didn’t work, and I let it go immediately. Not my name, not my life, not my choice. They’re happier now, isn’t that what a parent should want?

Every single person who has, or has known someone who has, changed their name when they got married should be able to get their head around this. It’s a disingenuous lie to pretend it’s that hard, and something that can’t just be done.

Someone in another post pointed out that it’s literally from the CIA handbook on disrupting organizations and movements to nitpick language and cause fights over semantics.

Even though this was not the official party, the party needs to see massive, LOUD pushback to this as if it was them or they will consider adopting it. People need to make them listen by being as loud and obnoxious as Republicans. youtu.be/By1Z1nk31iE?...

I always forget how much I liked that one! I started Angela Collier’s video on Star Trek, and didn’t expect to sit through all of it, but I ended up watching every minute and the end made me grieve for the Star Trek I loved. The Trek that helped me find myself, and that feels so far away now.

I like Voyage Home the best. V-ger orifice from The Motion Picture still cracks me up every time.

12 years ago, I went to the Holocaust museum in DC and then to the American History Smithsonian and I couldn’t even speak on the ride home because I was so terrified. I saw the rising fascism in the US back then, and people just could not understand when I tried to explain.

I have a friend who didn’t get vaxxed as a kid, bc her mom was old-school anti-vax to alt-right pipelined. She was lucky enough to grow up into the most pro-reason/science person I know, and got herself all her shots. It’s sick to be happy a kid (like her) didn’t get that chance.

You might like the insights in this video, it helped explain a lot of what’s going on with men like this for me. youtu.be/ol4X6oc-tz8?...

Yeah, report their posts for hate/misinformation, and block. They crave leftist attention and validation, or they’re stuck in their echo chamber with people who act/talk like they do, and they hate that.

I love a new grocery experience. My favourite for shopping experience is the local co-op and then trying a new farmer’s market. I always look for the local eggs, tea, honey, and chocolate.

“Defiance of statutes” is such a sickening, snivelling way to avoid calling it “breaking the law”.

Elizabeth Peter’s’ Amelia Peabody books are written like this, although I think it’s implied the narrator is an older version of Peabody (or a descendant) using her diaries

Just to save everyone from googling it, the marshmallow test is about delayed gratification, which is not what this post is about. It’s about exercising control where you have it.

No, but I have a lot in common with Southern Baptists, even though I’m Canadian. I was homeschooled with the ACE curriculum, for one thing. Right in the word-faith/Kenneth Copeland/John Haggee/Benny Hinn stuff. I’m sorry you can relate.

Haha, that’s too real. I was raised evangelical in the satanic panic - couldn’t even talk about pain bc I would be causing it with my “confession”. I used to think everyone felt awful all the time and I was just weak and focused on it too much.

Fellow Zebra in the wild :) I was excited for a second, too. But I also am very hesitant to believe an industry that lied so much about the addictive nature of their drugs when they say something isn’t addictive.

I just googled him, and omg. He lived so long, and looked disagreeable in nearly every picture across 8 decades, haha

Tiffany Aching: “This I choose to do. If there is a price, this I choose to pay. If it is my death, then I choose to die. Where this takes me, there I choose to go. I choose. This I choose to do.” I taught my kids this was the most powerful spell in the world, and it can change your life.

Who knows what evil lurks in the hearts of men? I also got a huge kick out of Blackstone, the Magic Detective, and the sidekick who had to describe all of the amazing tricks he was doing because sleight of hand doesn’t work on radio, hahaha
