Yea, I saw that strong signal. It looks like we're having a good display this evening. I can't see anything from here though as it's too cloudy.

And a small but non-zero chance of catching a Perseid meteor passing close to the pairing 😃

One day hopefully 🤞

Thanks - caught my first display of the season last night. It was pretty low and faint but a sighting nevertheless. Hoping for more in the next few days.

As will I 😀

What other explanation could there be? I mean something like "Shooting an eagle from the rough at Augusta using my old niblick" makes no sense to anyone but a deep cover agent... 😄

5 year anniversary of comet NEOWISE coming up David. Guess you'll have one or two pictures to post and bring back memories 😃

It looked pretty intense going by what I've seen on here.

Tesla-bros, probably: "Running over the body a necessary part of training the algorithm" and "Just bought more stock - you should too before the price hits 5,975,385,145!" etc etc 🙄 🥱

I remember seeing 'The Exodus of the Pondhonquerres' in the Louvre a few years ago. One of the most evocative paintings I've ever seen.

Hmm, it's almost as if Grok is controlled by someone with an agenda and can be manipulated to give the answers they want it to give. Maximally truth seeking? As long as it's Musk's version of the truth*. 🙄😬 *not the truth at all.

Clown is right. Dude needs to get out of his tech-bro bubble and live in the real world for a change.

Sounds like a bad episode of Top Gear 😄

Get more sleep David. Venus isn't going anywhere! (apart from round the Sun) 😀

Nice one! I'm hoping to see them from the UK any day now.

Getting closer to a good display over the UK. I'd have gone out for this one last night but the skies were totally cloudy.

"Draw a picture of Corbyn, Starmer and Farage taking part in a David Bowie lookalike contest with Sooz Kempner as the judge." 😉

I'm not holding out much hope for this one.

At some point in the future, yes I can see it happening. Not in the next decade or two though. The tech just doesn't exist. The whole 'backup for Earth' thing is also ludicrous. If someone is that worried about it then just build a space station or Moon colony. Closer and easier* *Not easy at all!

Astro modified camera I assume? They never seem to mention that in such articles, great pictures though they indeed are.

All times and positions based on a northeast UK location. All graphics are from Stellarium and all pictures are my own. Wishing you all clear skies! #Astronomy #Stargazing

Into July: Noctilucent clouds season continues next month and some good displays can be seen in July, especially in the first two weeks of the month.

29th: #Mars and Regulus have a visit from the #Moon again this evening. This time the Moon is only 22% lit and sits between the planet and star. Look low to the west from around 23:00 BST but be quick because they set around midnight.

21st: Summer solstice in the Northern Hemisphere. 22nd: The 15% lit #Moon sits above bright planet #Venus this morning. Look low to the east around 03:00 BST. A good photo opportunity. 25th: New Moon.
