Ok but what if I was the protagonist from Zone of Interest but I felt like a little conflicted about it, you know?

but a huge pain in the ass to operationalize and I don't really think they generalize well operationally

Like customizing something to work for a known graph shape of data is doable but maybe very hard to generalize sensibly
Something something tail latency

I think it's gotta be pretty niche use cases? Just asked Googler husband (works on spanner, been there for a long time) and he wasn't sure who actually used pregel and said "spanner has graph support but I'm not sure who uses it" (it's a niche query system feature sounds like)

yeah like, I only own one home, but increasing home prices do directly benefit me and I have to go against my base instincts to say, we should be building more and I would rather take a hit to my appreciated home value than keep locking people out of where I live

people who already own are the major beneficiaries

do they love graphs? What general graph dbs are you thinking of in the bigtech sense?

I think corporations have so much blame for so many things but not really for the housing crisis

like, let's talk about estate taxes and why we talk about "generational wealth" in the first place! About who doesn't want their neighborhood to build without concern for the fact that there are just a lot more people to accommodate period

maybe. but I think people forget that the enemy of them owning homes is mostly people who look exactly like them, not faceless corporations

I don't think I'd want to do the heavy labor personally, I'd rather have the hard-working ancestors!

Here is a rundown of all the accusations against Cuomo, what he said initially about them and how that has changed since then.

Starting to realize what makes me nervous about Devin et al. It becomes a new incantation of the perennial problem of letting a stakeholder get work done by shoulder-tapping their favorite young engineer

"enjoy" is a strong word I might recommend instead muting the words "Cuomo" and "Mamdani" and maybe "Lander" to be safe

your point at the end about sunk cost and what do you do when it doesn't quite get there is very interesting!

if your manager sucks, yeah, 1-1s won't be great. but hanging with bryan just to shoot the shit on a regular basis would be fun even if no work got discussed

I'm always leery of models like this (bronze/silver/gold) because it starts to attach universal value judgements to things. At first it makes a lot of sense, but it becomes misdirected as you move down the stack...
