Democrats are centrists at the core of the party. They don't care about social issues, only the economy from the viewpoint of the rich. Accept that premise, and everything makes sense.
Both parties are captured by money, that's the issue we can't effectively protest or fight and they know it.

I live in NYC, and I'm still confused as to why anybody visits here. Times Square is typically flooded with people and i still haven't figured out why. Like at all. Broadway shows and stores, that's all you can find.

Most history books aren't very honest and water down the material so some people aren't offended.
My go-to example is Christopher Columbus. Some people want to venerate him as a hero, but an honest history says that he was very much not.
So, yeah, I like stories that are buried and erased.
