I went flashcart and OG hardware crazy originally. Then I got the MiSTer and novelty and nostalgia are the only reason I fire them up directly anymore.

Crazy part is I still have our childhood NES carts, boxes and manuals.
I just never use the carts even after getting the NES modded, an SD Cart and an rt4k. Fun for a time on OG hardware but long term, MiSTer for me.
To be clear, not shaming anyone. Just not the way I wanna play anymore.

My 2 brothers and I felt that pain in Blaster Master repeatedly when it was called contemporary gaming.
Was detrimental to enjoyment at 9 years old. Frustrating over fun, no matter how much nostalgia and love I for the game 🤣
I play using save states with Mister FPGA now so no regrets lol

Until you run into game breaking bugs like the random one in the water area of Blaster Master. Nothing quite like spending 4 or 5 hours playing though a game with no save points to have the game just freeze but the music keeps playing. 4 or 5 playthroughs until you finally magically avoid the bug.

I bought a block of coins and "pay" for the 2 books I read in Manga Up. I avoid the "but you can read for free if you do this 🐂💩" because I'm willing to pay.
For those that don't have that luxury... piracy is sadly an option and probably a better one.

Price seems about in line w/ what the set w/ the "complete" edition (ova+movie) was selling for in Japan. Reverse import fears I guess.
Nabbed mine for ~$145.Took some convincing to get my wallet over that hump.
Now if only someone would tell us what's happening w/ Frontier & Delta.

Anime Limited has said they will do a standard edition.
The issue? No OVA version will be included.
If you want/need the OVA version, beg borrow and steal to get the money. License holder request is, no OVA outside of this version.
Think it has to do with replicating what is available in Japan.

I've owned the original PC release since about a week after it came out. Bought the gog version ages ago so I wouldn't have to figure out how to install on a modern computer.

What surprises me is I stopped watching Eng dub after the first 3 eps, so some of the main character recasts/temp replacement (Lisa O sick) hadn't impacted my viewing.
I don't regret making the switch to Japanese given it's push to get me to learn the language.

How do you define best? NES will always be my favorite so hard to call anything after it the best generation. Of course quality across every system? Yeah. 6th was a great generation for sure.
