I knew some1 who thought the plural of “pro forma” was “pro formae”. I tried explaining that a) it isn’t, and b) “pro forma” has no plural. I failed.

I was glad I have reliable mnemonics, using familiar compounds: “Slovakia used to be part of CzechoSLOVAKIA” “SERBIA uses what used to be called SERBO-Croat(ian)” Then I realised nobody uses these compounds any more.
