the levels do a much better job of driving home a sense of the world’s scale too
you can only do that so much with prerendered backdrops before it becomes unreasonably tedious and inconvenient for players

I don’t dislike the remake series as a whole, but the tone, characterization, and themes are significantly weaker and I find that frustrating when it wears the name of a game praised so widely for precisely those things
at least it is very pretty and mechanically engaging tho
