Totally agree. I’m also very partial to Bannockbane, which is a generic trade tartan. A Bannockbane scarf made by the House of Bruar was given to me as a gift.

Belatedly realizing that the wave of boutique beard oils were a way of marketing fragrances to a new and likely less discerning segment of the market. On one hand, it worked on me. On the other, their success wasn't sustainable because the worst place to wear a fragrance is directly under your nose

Most people think that one is obliged to wear their clan tartan, but I’d wear a universal tartan (Flower of Scotland, Scotland the Brave), a state/regional tartan (California, New York, Donegal, Galway), or a heritage tartan (Filipino American, Galicia) because the Hamilton tartan looks bloodied.
