So yes, I have my reasons for being aloof and distant in person. There was a time when I was warm, friendly, and kind apart from the sign of peace during Mass. But I just can't trust people anymore, and I often feel the need to protect myself and my feelings with a hard shell. A hortus conclusus.

Someone also used toilet water to make the tea at coffee hour, and apparently, I was the only one NOT to catch word that one wasn't supposed to use a particular spigot filled with ready-made tea, but brew one's own tea with hot water and tea bag. I was ill for several weeks.

I received a mouthful of slobber from another parishioner, and subsequently, I caught mononucleosis and a really bad case of oral thrush - I'm diabetic and it takes much longer for me to recover. I was so upset that anyone could do this to me because I am an Anglo-Catholic.
