There are already tools for this chemists have been using for years that are much more reliable than an LLM (eg Reaxys, Scifinder) which have interfaces built to handle chemistry. There's not really a reason to retrofit genAI to do this when there are purpose-built tools (that could incorporate AI.)

Our leaders must block this budget of theft and destruction to protect our freedoms, our families, and our futures.

Their MAGA Murder Budget would turn our government into a weapon against our people, abducting our neighbors, killing off life-saving programs like cancer research and Medicaid, and letting billionaires rob us of everything ‘we the people’ created to care for each other.

Computer programs/instrument software are designed to produce numbers for your sample/query. But does the output make sense? Or did you just move on because it gave you what you were hoping to see?

Some questions have simple answers. What is the number used for baseline in this comparison? When was this instrument last calibrated? Were the raw materials checked for impurities? Is there sufficient data to run that particular minitab stat analysis?

Our whole scientific enterprise depends on the training of new talent. They bring new knowledge to old institutions.
Working in industry, the hiring freezes were bad because the R&D ideas get stale. The collaboration between new talent and experienced researchers is critical to innovation!

I am long beyond my grad school years. I am not an academic, I don’t apply for research grants from philanthropic or federal agencies. But the fed cuts have me thinking constantly about the pipeline of new scientists.
