Our library had a full set of D'Oyly Carte Opera Company cast recordings so I would check out a couple of them and print the librettos off the internet to follow along and learn the songs

The first music that was really 'my favourite' was Gilbert & Sullivan operettas - my mom got a cast recording of The Pirates of Penzance out of the library and told me I'd love it and she was 100% correct, they became the focus of my life for like five years

my family was pretty much classical and jazz only until I was nearly in my teens - my parents were on the 'rock music is devil music' train and that included pop. Mom used to clean house to Gershwin, we all loved Tchaikovsky and my sister and I used to have dance parties to the 1812 Overture

it cannot be spookier than my current place which is hexed by a witch or perhaps ghost (delivery people are placed under a confusion spell and cannot navigate the building) but I'm thinking of getting a bunch of witchy decor for kicks
