Yeah. I’ve met a few folks through folks, and we’ve met up, but even in the online spaces, young caregivers can’t go because there is only a single meeting per month and its when most people under 40 are like…working. It’s so wild. I dunno. It makes me really sad.

They got him when they were testing him for celiacs. I really don't understand it either. And the barriers to getting treatment, my fucking god. It's insane how much easier it is to treat when you catch it early.

However, I did get $2k in a support grant because I broke down sobbing on the zoom call "I'm the youngest person in here by 30 years, and the only one who's married to the patient" when they asked me if I could relate and I super could not.

I really wish it was in person and not all online, I can't lie. It feels like there are almost no resources for young cancer caregivers to support each other in person - even here in Chicago. I really want to explore ways to change that - but dude, I'm exhausted from all this shit.

I miss the life we had before this every single fucking day, but I'm grateful for all the life we get together going forward.

Anyway! Fuck cancer! Go get your asses scoped! Folks under 40 are getting diagnosed with rectal cancer like fucking CRAZY and that shit is aggressive. If it hadn't been caught last year when it was, and we were LUCKY it was caught, I don't know where we'd be other than "in a worse sort of hell"

I have a lot of stuff on repeat in my brain, including "only allow yourself to feel anxiety during scans" but the scans happen every three months, and a lot of my peers are suffering and struggling too, and it can just feel really hopeless sometimes. Even when it's not hopeless.

Turns out chicago's climate is waaaay different than St. Louis's and it didn't get warm enough up here for me to spray ANYTHING until like, last week. Weapons look great though!

The deep lore about this comic is another Vat Spawn commissioned it to help us pay for chemo. I can't wait to share it when it's done.

I've spent a lot of time trying to find a new place (currently I use the shopify plugin) to set up my newsletter and I'm pretty hype to continue exploring pencilbooth.
