You can blame online misinformation all you want, but as long as you have a justice minister boasting about deportations, and far right groups are setting up stall outside schools to harass foreign students and parents to little pushback, no misinformation is needed for the racists to do their thing

After I was done getting soaked from the thigh down and cover head to toe in mud while making this video about removing gunnera, a neighbour I hadn't met before stopped me on the road to say their son had sent her my tiktoks, I can only assume the mud gave me away 😂

And it's up. This was an interesting experiment on writing without system, definitely open to notes on how to make it work better.

The Valley is available now from @somebogwitch.bsky.social Get it here: tinyurl.com/ycxb6xe6 The Valley is a system agnostic murder mystery game where the players have been invited to Zazen, a small town at the heart of a secluded wooded valley, with one road in and one road out. #ttrpgs

A useful FYI for newcomers surprised at Ireland's consistently robust stance on the genocide in Gaza; in addition to being a rare Western country that knows how the pointy end of colonialism feels, our UN peacekeeping troops in Lebanon have been weathering IDF attacks for <decades>.

IDF soldiers fired towards Irish and Lebanese soldiers from Israeli territory into Lebanon today. 'Israel is organising a campaign against Ireland because of the stand we have taken in the EU, at the UN and at the International Court of Justice.' - Taoiseach @micheal-martin.bsky.social

My hot take is the reason for people not wanting to discuss the environmental cost of AI is that then we need to then consider the environmental cost of our Internet habits in general.

“This lark of people saying, ‘I’ll come into the office on Tuesday and Wednesday; otherwise I’m going to be working at home’, is a load of nonsense” says man who can't even be in the same *country* as his job for more than 183 days in any given year without losing his tax exile status.

Speaking to @eoghandalton.bsky.social for this article was a tough decision, I have friends and colleagues working in Sinn Féin and looking to bring meaningful change to Irish politics. But it was the only decision I felt I could make until the party takes this criticism on board #spéirgorm

Current and former members of Sinn Féin have spoken out over fears that the party is set to water down its support for LGBT+ issues, in particular on rights for transgender people.

Transgender people told us that the long waitlist for the National Gender Service was not the sole reason why some decide to access DIY-healthcare. They said the types of questions asked are also leading to a lack of trust in the system. jrnl.ie/6691757

Transgender people who have legally changed their gender and previously accessed healthcare in their home countries are required to join the years-long waiting list and be assessed again. In our final article in our series, @conorocarroll.bsky.social speaks to people who moved to Ireland:

We have a few openings at @nearfm.ie for scripts for an audio drama funding application I'm currently working on. We're looking for writers from diverse backgrounds including, LGBTQIA+, migrant, Traveller, and people with disabilities to submit a script that will work in an audio format. (1/3)

@peterthorne.bsky.social not holding back on the idea of going back to growing Sitka spruce on peatland 👏

finally finished a system agnostic version of one of my games, interested to hear how other people who use a lot of different systems day to day borrow from them into something new

Today on Grafton St we commemorated Palestinian Land Day, the date in 1976 when Palestinian citizens of Israel were gunned down while protesting for their rights. Wd aso marked the seventh anniversary of the Great March of Return in Gaza. From the river to the sea. #FreePalestine 🇵🇸 📸 Fidelma Bonass

For St Patrick's Day. Ladybird books were published in many different languages - including Irish

I've noticed a really strange absence of frogs and frog spawn on Achill this spring. Thinking back I don't think I remember any last year either. Anyone know something I don't?

Blackthorn (Prunus spinosa) seen as I looked above a carpark in Theale, Berks, at the weekend. Previous week it was only in bud. Now it looked like a flurry of snowflakes - no surprises at the mo! #Wildflowerhour

As a teenager and into my twenties I spent a lot of time in town alone and Pat Ingoldsby was such a fixture of my Saturdays. Conversations with him were never dull and Dublin is all the poorer without him.

Solidarity is beautiful ❤️ Cork City Ireland now

RIP Pat Ingoldsby a much loved poet. Connected with people of all ages. Probably the first real life poet many of us saw as kids on TV or on the streets of Dublin selling his poetry collections.

Reminds me of @seamas.bsky.social's Examiner column. Throwing trans youth under the bus in the north gained SF nothing, just like fence sitting over immigration and asylum gained them nothing. It alienates progressives and the right still paints them as the pride flag waving open borders party.

I wrote this on the most consistently terrible, and fatal, idea in centrist politics today. On Fanta, rebadging, and why attempting to win votes from fascists is morally disgusting and politically suicidal. www.irishexaminer.com/lifestyle-co...

Tomorrow millions of flowers will be shared for #ValentinesDay & by end of month (sorry, party-pooper alert) they'll all be in the bin. If your beloved loves #wildflowers, why not give them the gift of BSBI membership, so they can support our wonderful wildflowers for a whole year! bsbi.org/join-us

As well as being patron saint of love & romance, legend says #StValentine was a beekeeper & was regarded as the patron saint of beekeepers (as was #StAmbrose) He was charged with the protection of beekeepers, having a gentle, caring disposition & a love of bees💕🐝 #FolkyFriday #StValentinesDay
